How much solids is to much? Rss

Hi All
My DD is 6 months this Sunday! She has been having solids since she was 4 and half months old. I am just wanting to know am I giving her to much? Her feeding is as follows:
7am breastfeed
8.30am rice cereal
11am breatfeed
12.30 full jar of fruit
3pm breastfeed
4.30 full jar veggies
6.30 breastfeed

She has been sleeping through since she was 12 weeks old!
Your tips and advice would be appreciated!
Thanks
Emma

Hi,
Wow lucky you with the sleeping through! You sound like you have it all sorted. The amount you are feeding her looks about right. She will let you know if she has had enough so if she is happily eating it then keep doing what you are doing smile
Hi,

I don't think that's too much especially that your breastfeeding because baby's need twice as much if they are breast fed but yeah she'll let you know if she's had enough. I wish my son would sleep through the night.. Lucky you smile

Thanks and yes very lucky with the night sleeps! She only has 3 x 20 min day naps though, and is hyperactive when she's awake!
Sometimes she doesn't have full jar but mostly when we have finished the jar she will scream wanting more but I don't give her more than a jar, once she is officially 6 months I could buy the bigger jars and see how she goes!

Thanks for your reassurance! I was doing a dream feed with my daughter which was waking her, as soon as I stopped it she slept through, previously I would do dream feed at 10ish and she would wake at 3 ish for a feed, when I stopped waking her at 10 she stopped waking at 3.. Weird!
my lil man is 5 months and is on the same kinda routine as your lil one. and he doesnt sleep thru. he wakes up once thru the night and has a lil feed and then wakes up wide awake at 6.30am. hahah he only has 2x 30 min naps thru the day and sometimes 1 hr so thats kinda good. but yeah i think that your feeding her enough. you will soon know if your not. smile
My little girl was having the same routine but at meal times she would have 6 ice cube of vegies and then a yogart for lunch and dinner she would have 6 ice cubes of vegies and powered custard that I mixed with breast.. She too was started on solids at 4 months and slept through. You cant over feed as she will tell you when she has had enough, if she is happy after each meal then she has had enough. I was told to keep feeding untill they let you know they have had enough by turning her head or starts to get grissly smile I dont mean too sound nasty "Emma J Whittle" But if my little girl was screaming for more I would open another jar smile
i could have sworn you were writing my post for me, as my dd2 is also 6mths on sunday (tomorrow) and i also started her on solids at 4 1/2mths!! only difference is she has a full bottle anywhere from 6.45am to 7.30am, lunch around 11.30 of either a whole banana with or without custard that i make with her milk, a full bottle around 3pm, dinner at 5.30/6pm of two ice cubes of vegies or beef casserole that i've made then two ice cubes of apple with or without custard and then another full bottle around 7.30pm. bed is usually 8/8.30pm, sometimes earlier and she sleeps through til around 5/5.30am (apparantly!!) but goes back to sleep again. she has two naps of around 1hr each through the day, the rest of her day is spent rolling around the floor trying to work out how to move forward, so she's pretty active now and is working off some of the fat she had stored and growing in length now!! i agree with hayleebear, i'd open another jar and feed her as much as she'll eat. you can store what she doesn't eat from the second jar in the fridge for the next meal. have you tried making your own food for her?? you might find homemade food fills her up more as it's "real" food and she won't be screaming after a feed wanting more. good luck smile
4 breastfeeds a day isn't very much.....

Milk is meant to be their main source of food until they are around 1. I wouldn't be upping the food anytime soon, I would be trying to get more milk into her if anything.

At 6 months she needs the complex fats and nutrients that you can only get in bm. BM is a whole food. Solids, no matter what they are do not compare. This enables their brain to grow and develop at the rate it does as well as their organs and bones. The solids just don't have the nutrients in them to support this type of growth.

Don't rush the solids. She might like them, but they aren't what she needs for nutrition right now. If she is still hungry, give her more bm.

Babies need twice as much what if you are breastfeeding?

They bf more often then ff babies because the milk is more easily digested. Not sure if thats what you mean. BF or ff has no bearing on how much solids they need though.
