Weaning
Hi. I have an 11 month daughter who drinks 4 bottles a day, 3 meals and snacks. Should I be starting to reduce her bottles now??
Hi!
When my daughter was 11months I cut out the morning bottle and introduced her to a sippy with cow's milk, took her a few times to like the taste. Then after a few weeks I gradually got rid of the other bottles! I would try to reduce the bottles and see what happens. If she eats a big breakfast I would reduce the morning bottle, then depending on her routine slowly get rid of the others:)

CY_Lec That is exacly what I did but it was more of a week or two and my little was on the breast not a bottle smile I would start to get rid of them now too smile
Cy_lec thanks for that i was just wondering how i should introduce cows milk to my 11 month
Thanks ladies. A friend told me to cut her 2nd bottle out and replace it with morning tea and give milk on the side in a sippy cup. I tried that today, she ate the yogurt but only had a sip of milk. I have no idea whether I'm doing this right or not.
Am I meant to be cutting the milk altogether or just replacing it with cow's milk in a sippy cup??

This is really up to you! If you want to get rid of the bottles and formula you need to cut them out, when they adjust to the cow's milk they only need a small amount as this is mainly for them to get their dairy intake for the day. When I was almost finished my last tin of formula I didn't give her anymore and she was eating enough solids and drinking water and just a small cup of cow's milk twice a day smile

How's everything going with weaning your little one?
Cy_Lec,hello! I am still so confused about this thing called weaning!!! LOL
My DD is 1 on Sunday and is still having the 3 bottles of formula. The nurse told me to start giving half formula and half cow's milk in each bottle until she gets used to taste and then decrease amount of formula. So I'm going to start this tomorrow.
I'm not oo worried about the actual bottle at this stage just the milk.
I till think I should get rid of her 3pm bottle and replace it with a snack. I'm just so confused!!

I guess it is just trial and error until you find what works best, just because something works for one child, doesn't mean it will work for the next. I haven't heard of half formula and half cow's milk in each bottle before but sounds like worth giving a go!
yeah I wouldn't worry too much either she is only one and if you think you should get rid of her 3pm bottle and replace it with a snack I would do it.
Take care smile

im in the same position...my lil girl is one in a week and a half....few days ago i started giving her a morning bottle at 9am with cows milk she loves it...and at 230pm she has formular and at 615pm she has formula. i think once the forumla is all gone il just give her 9am cows milk cut out the 215pm bottle all together and replace with afternoon tea and then cows milk at 615pm before bed. hopefully she takes to it then il work on the sippy cup instead of bottle lol good luck smile
