Breast feeding pillows/cushions Rss

Hi smile

I have a problem with my arms/shoulders that will make it a bit tricky to hold my baby when I breastfeed. I'm not able to carry much weight on either arm for very long and at times have limited mobility. An occupational therapist suggested I buy a breastfeeding pillow to make things easier. I should have asked more questions, but I really thought it'd be a case of walking into a shop and buying a pillow labelled 'breast feeding pillow'. Instead I've found that there are so many different types at very different prices, and some of them are really expensive.

I think that what I'm looking for is one that is high enough that I can rest my arms on it and have most of bub's weight taken by the pillow.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Have you used a breastfeeding pillow of any kind? Was it useful? How long was it useful for?

Thanks for your help smile
I Just use a Normal every day pillow, if you have one that's really puffed up that would be handy, the triangular ones would be good if you planned to feed your baby in the direction of under your arms. I think targe have he proper pillows, they can be quite pricey. I have found a normal to be fine. Hope this helps

Hi!

The only one I can recommend is the one I bought from Target. I think it is target branded and only cost me like $25 I think...it may have been on special at the time.

It has been used EVERY day since he was born and I don't have any strength problems...it has just been SO handy. My DS is 1 now and I still use it 2 or 3 times a day.
I totally reccommend a normal boomerang pillow when they are new they are quite puffy and u can chuck a waterproof protector on it and a pillow case and its just perfect. it wraps around ur body so supports the baby perfectly

I only ever used a regular pillow for my first baby- the room I was in at the hospital was missing the tri piloow and thats what I got use to from the start. My MIL bought me a tri pillow but I much prefered the regular one because Id got use to it smile

I got that one too. I found it great with my DS. smile
The milkbar is great! small and compact and portable
I find that the best thing that you can wash its cover and get spare one
Thanks so much everyone for the replies, I think I'll go to Target over the weekend and check out their maternity pillows and compare the price to just a boomerang pillow. I'm sure it's hormones, but it's amazing how stressed out I got over a -pillow-! wink
