infacol vs infants friend vs gripe water?? Rss

Hi there,

I have a 8wks old and have recently put her on formula. She was on Nan,but have just changed her to s26 lactose free as she is having a lot of trouble bringing up wind. She does some huge burps after a bottle but then up to 3hrs later she does more big burps. She is using agent anti colic bottles and I have just changed the test from number 2 back to number 1 incase she was guzzling it too quick. I have a bottle of infacol, infants friend, and gripe water at home.....have u found either of these to b better than the other?

I tried everything when DD had colic and found infants friend to be the best! It worked a treat!

110% agree with kubota chick, I tried all 3 and found infants friend to be the best grin

I tried all three for my little girl when she was a baby and found infacol the best but what works for some babies does not always work for others. Do a trial on all three and see what works best!!

Same! Love infants friend- still use it now on rare occasions smile

Try stopping all foods for a few days to clear them from bubs system. Then use one type of food for each feed for 3-4 days - eg fruit puree twice a day. Then add another food etc. This way you can tell if any particular food is effecting bub.

Avoid cereals at first. DS had major issues with rice cereal when little.

Lactulose can be purchased over the counter at the chemist. Speak to the pharmacist about pros and cons of any treatment though - they are usually really helpful.

Suppositries can be helpful short term too.

Another option could be to see a physio for example to learn massage techniques etc to help bub move things along - rubbing belly, moving legs etc.

If all else fails, see your doctor.

infants friend worked straight away , gripe did nothing
Infants Friend all the way for us too!
Infacol made my 4 month old vomit.

I found it helped considerably if I fed her with the upper part of her body higher than the lower part and if I stopped and burped her every 5 minutes or so.
i use infacol and gripe water (have not tried anythign else) they both help but not a miracle. infacol before every feed and gripe water 2/3 times randomly through the day.
i have struggles big time with DS's wind. i THINK i have finally cured him (he is 4 months)
i never really though it was the bottles/formula too much but more that it was just somethign he would grow out of.

i just changes his formula to Novalac colic (tried aptimal, Nan HA, Nan Pro). also, even though bottles claim to be anti colic i dont believe they all are...well none of them are and it depends how your bub drinks from them. We tried, Avent, TT (normal and orthodontic), Nuk, random cheap ones and have just changes to pigeon.

I only changed both these things since yesterday and last night he slept through grin no wakign every hour tryign to toot. he drank so much more calmly from the bottle...no gupling slurping and his poop this morning was a colour i have neevr seen (im used to thick dark gree/grey) it looked healthy.

could be worth a try to change the formula again or the bottles.
good luck
