teaching for 3 yr old Rss

Hi
I have a 3 yr old girl, knows her No's, interested in her abc's but when we try to teach her the new No's and letters or to how to write them she pulls "i don't know"s. For eg. she knows No's well beyond 10 but when we sit down with her she says 'i don't know" to 3 and refuse to go on. Its getting pretty frustrated. We try to make it fun but she catches on quick and back to the trouble. And it can't always be about games can't it? Pls help.
Reading and learning at this age should always be able games and fun. You just can't approach learning any other way when you are 3. They are testing their will and power and may often resist instruction. Try a new approach. Firstly pull-away from the more formal tactic of instructing. Try and DVD from the Brainy Baby range on numbers and abc, or something different. We have the entire range on the Huggies Bookclub. Experiment with stories that interest your daughter and weave in ones that have a numerical theme and significance.
