Silent reflux

My son will be 4 in july and still is on zantac 4ml morning and 4ml at night. I thought he would be off med by now. I took him to the doctors 6 months ago and they told me to keep him on it. He hasnt had an episode for 2 years.should I demand tests to make sure he still needs medication.

Hi I would get a 2nd opinion. I took dd2 who is 11 months to her paeditrician today for a checkup. She has been on reflux medication since she was a few days old. I got the ok to take her off Losec. She's crawling and loves her solids. She rarely vomits now. He said she will let me know if she's not feeling well.
Why don't you stop the Zantac and see how your ds goes. Reflux usually improves once babies are mobile. DD1 had reflux also and she was off her medication by the time she turned 1.

I agree I would get a Secound opinion my girl was on Zantac but came off at 10 months
But given how Zantac works it might be helping him with the reflux
I was adviced by my doctor not to just stop giving the Zantac cos it changes the acidity of the stomach I had to wein her of it

Thanks. My son was having choking episodes from 5 days old. When hes belly empty the acids would rise and he would choke on the acids.we constantky had to give him snacks to keep food in tummy which is terrible now as hes eating habit is all over the place. Im going to get me tested to see how its going. I just dont like my son being on meds if not needed. Thanking you fir advice.
