Need help
Hi,
It sounds like you are still having a lot of trouble with your bub, so I think it is a really good idea to go back and see the doctor, and let them know what is going on. Sometimes a change in the dose can help, though you don't say how long your bub has been taking Zantac. It can take several weeks to see a big improvement in some babies, though others the improvement is quite rapid. They are all different, and its hard to know. Also, if he has been on it for a few weeks, and has put on weight since then, that may be part of the problem, as it is a weight related medication. Also, doctors often start with quite a low dose, so it's possible it may need to be increased just to suit him better.
What other things are you doing for him? Did the dr explain some of the management ideas you can do at home? like keeping him upright after feeds, avoiding slumping, avoiding any pressure on the tummy with tight nappies or elastic waistbands- things like that?
Sometimes with bubs, no matter what you do, until the reflux is under better control, the sleep won't improve, but sometimes working on routine can make all the difference. It is really hard to know what will work for your bub, and it is often trial and error- but please follow your instincts and let the dr know what's going on.
I hope that helps
