Bowel movements 4 month old Rss

Hi,

My exclusively breastfed baby is only doing a poo every 7 days. Is this normal? I have started drinking prune juice and increased my water intake to 3 litres a day to try and help get things moving. Any other advice?

Thanks!
Yep it is completely normal for a breastfed baby to go that long if not longer between poos. Both my DD's were once a week and up to 10days before pooing. When they finally did go it was a #3 (poo explosion). lol.

There is very little waste in breastmilk as it is easily digested so it's completely normal.

My GP told me that so long as when they do go it is not hard or pebbles then it is fine. smile

My friend exclusively breastfeeds and her baby only has poos once every week. But he's perfectly fine smile

my new daughter is 2 weeks old and i am breast feeding her. she has been doing poo every few days but has alot of wind out the back. my other 3 children went almost every nappy change which seemed strange to me that she hasn.t, she settles well though, thanks for your comments it seems normal.
