15 month old feeding to sleep Rss

I have a 15 month old that I am currently breastfeeding to sleep, I am wanting to wean her as she is a poor eater with solids & I feel that 15 months is long enough to be breastfeeding!, I have spoken with karatane & with my local clinic who have advised dropping one feed per day, after attempting this earlier in the week, my Daughter screamed the house down for over 45 min & ended up going to sleep with her sippy cup in her mouth, the next day we attempted the same thing, however this time was worse she hit her head into things & cut her mouth by rubbing her finger in it & got herself so worked up I eneded up feeding her again, she was awake all night last night doing the same thing, even though I did try to feed her to sleep as per normal, we do not like the idea of controlled crying as we feel that she will hurt herself in her cot of end up falling or climbing out, have tried the 'camping in' method, however she only stands up & screams uncontrollably & after 4+ hours not sure how long we should let the screaming continue for.
Our other concern is our three & a half year old being left infront of the tv of in her bedroom to play whilst I fight with the baby to go to sleep.
How long can the screaming tantrums continue & any other ideas of help as my husband works shift work & is hardly home to help out?
Hi,

Breaking habits is not an easy task and you must expect a battle. Controlled comforting and controlled crying are different. Leaving a baby to cry it out is one thing and controlled comforting techniques are done at timed intervals leaving baby no longer than 10 mins maximum and with a clear repetitive message given that it’s time to sleep.
After one hour of settling during the day you can give up. During the night you can go until sleep comes offering a drink of water and a reassuring cuddle every one hour.

You are having a battle now anyway so to have one with clear directions and a goal might not be much worse. She wants you to give in first and it will be a battle of wills.

You can get an overview of our settling program from Your Baby’s Sleep section of the Huggies site or for more detail, and a visual demonstration, It's Time To Sleep DVD&BOOK.

Cheers
