Hi, we have a DS who has just turned 7. He lost both of his bottom front teeth in since Xmas and we have had him to the dentist for a check up twice since. He was due for a check up and I was curious about the placement of his teeth. Prior to loosing the first tooth he has a very small amount of crowding at the bottom. Now that his 2nd bottom tooth has fallen out and the adult tooth is growing it is obvious that there is not enough room for the 2nd tooth, it is partially behind his now first adult tooth and the baby tooth on the same side (make sense?). After the 2nd tooth started to grow I took him back and they have said that he will probably experience a lot of crowding but nothing will be done until he is over 10 as their jaws and palet grow around then and he will need to have teeth removed to allow room and possibly braces.
Sorry for the long story but ... I had heard about a system called "No Braces" as an alternative but it is a system they do while children are much younger to allow for more room for the teeth to be corrected and grow be placed where they should, thus avoiding extractions.
I am not a fan of braces nor is my husband (who had them). Has anyone had children that have/are using this system or knows someone that has had experience with them. It sounds like a huge time committment (as I think we would need to travel to Melb/Sydney)and probably costly, both of which we are prepared for if we know it will work
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
