How much does your 6yo weigh? Rss

Hi all,

Just after some numbers for comparison. DD (ex 28 weeker) has always been 'petite' but lately I'm starting to worry. She hasn't gone up a clothing size in almost 2 years and she's tiny when compared to other kids at school yet according to all the sizing charts she's "normal" and that makes me a panicky parent who no medical professional will listen to *sigh*

She's 108cm tall and 17.5kg

Have begun to plot her growth as an ongoing reference, but was just curious to see how she compares to other huggies kiddies... (maybe I am going crazy and her school is just full of giants?)

So... how big is your 6yo?

Hi.

My 6 year old is 123cm and 19kg. He too was little at birth and under 5th percentiles for weight till he was about two. He's just got a tiny build. My doctor said to me if they have always been the same way and are happy, energetic, eat well and healthy then it is just the way they are and not to worry.

Ps my DS is about the 4th tallest in his class too so he is relatively tall for 6 wink
Thanks for the reply smile

She's always been a good eater, ppl often comment on how much she puts away for such a little girl! She's also very active though so that side of things doesn't worry me. I guess it's just the fact she doesn't really seem to be growing much at all lately. In her health book, she was 16.3kg at 4.5 years so she's only put on 1kg in just over 1.5 years unsure

Is she growing in height?? I think weight gain slows down when they start school as they seem to grow up and not out lol I found that with my boys

With what you describe she sounds fine and healthy to me smile
yeah, she was 100cm so she's gone up 8cm

maybe it's just me. After spending the first 2 years of her life constantly monitored and having to meet weight gain "goals" I'm just in that mindset a bit still?? idk

thanks for your help, feeling a bit better now smile

I'm not sure how tall DS is (he's about average in his age group at school), but last time I weighed him he was 21kg, that was about 6mths ago and his filled out heaps now, so he's probably put on a kilo or two.

Was your daughter tall for her age when she was younger? Maybe she has slowed down a little, but only because she grew so much when she was little...maybe??
Can I ask what size clothes she is wearing because not going up a size in 2yrs would probably concern me...but maybe that's normal for girls??
She's sort of between size 4 and 5 atm. Mostly size 4 if they're longer in the leg, some small size 5's if they have adjustable waist (as they fall down otherwise).

it's hard to tell if she's "always" been tall as up until she started kinder they would always "correct" her age back to her due date. She's always been small, but then when you correct her age, she's within normal range... if that makes sense? They don't correct anymore so it's all a bit confusing :s

hi my DD1 has just turned 5 and weighs just under 19kg, which I think is about average. Not sure of her height but she looks as though she is starting to shoot up, havent measured in ages.

I know my son (nearly 7yrs old) grew heaps in height once he hit school age and his weight has stayed fairly stable. Maybe your DD is growing taller?

If she eats well, and drinks a lot, seems otherwise healthy than I think that perhaps she will always just be on the smaller side. There is also the genetic component, if you or her dad are a smaller build?

Hi

My DD will be 6 next month and is 119cm tall and 22kg, she's around same height as most of her classmates.
I'm a shortie (163cm) but the rest of my family are all way taller (I'm the runt lol). Her dad's around 180cm, so fairly tall I guess.

It doesn't bother me that she's itsy bitsy (saves me a fortune on clothes lol) but it's hard not to worry when they're so obviously tiny compared to others iykwim?

Having said that, I remember my brother being the smallest in his prep grade and now he towers over me, so maybe your on the right track with genetics? idk

I was always a shortie til about grade 7 when I had my growth spurt -I was so excited. Than everyone caught up to me and I was short again !! I was devastated - lol.

I am 157cm so have accepted my fate as a shortie. Sigh ..

Sorry - slightly side tracked smile

Lol... I was always tall then around yr 9 everybody overtook me. I always joke that pregnancy stunts your growth and that's why I never had that final growth spurt that everyone else seemed to have lol (although that wasn't until after I finished high school so prob wasn't going to grow anyway)
