Speech Therapy?? Rss

Hello ladies,

I have a daughter who has just started prep this year. I understand her speech perfectly (a mum thing) but, she has very poor clarity and pronouciation of some letters. so, I spoke to her teacher and she said that my daughter was being assessed for speech therapy and refered through the schooling system.
So, just wondering-has your child been through speech therapy??
Did it help?
How long did it take before you noticed a difference???

Thanks
Sarah

My dd has been in speech therapy since December 2006. She is doing very well and I starting noticing the difference almost one month into the therapy.
Others who once used to always ask me what she said when dd spoke to them no longer look at me with confusion.
DD doesn't get frustrated with people not understanding her either. We still have a way to go but it is definately helping her.
Hi Sarah when I was younger (about 4 years old) my mum sent me to a speech therapy and mum found it help me alot and I improve my speech and my mum said that she notice the different from the moment I started to go and went I was in school you couldnt tell that I had once went to a speech therapy.

Yeah, speech therapy will definitely help your child in speaking clearly and frequently. After speech therapy everyone will understand her words. I have seen a same case of my neighbors child. He was not able to speak properly till the age of 4. After that they send him in a professional speech therapy session and after some months he is enough capable to speak with fluency and clearly.
