Paid Parental Leave
hey simone24 - how did you go? hope it works out well for you
I know this is an old post but my baby is 3 months old today and i applied for this when she was under 2 weeks old and im still not getting paid. has anyone else had to wait this long. I guess this means another trip to centrelink and a long wait with a screaming baby, no point ringing them, last time i tried i was on hold for over an hour and then gave up.

Have you checked with your employer what is happening? You won't get paid directly from centerlink it will go via your workplace payrol. Mine was held up and turns out my employer hadn't verified all the information I provided them was true.
my boss told me she had her end sorted about 3 weeks ago, i am going to town tomorrow so will talk to my boss then and see if she has heard anymore, if not it will be the dreaded trip to centrelink
I'm on the phone with Centrelink now trying to sort out my PPL. Been on hold for 10 mins so far... bleh
With the paid parental leave you can apply for it ( fill in the forms) up to 3 months before the due date of your baby. Am currently going though this at the moment and have had to sent forms back a number of times as i had missed information.... ( You get a stack of paperwork ) It can also be done on line... You will also get to choose a date that you want this to start.( as long as payments will be complete within 12 months of babys birth ) Am choosing to start mine about 3 months after bubs due date as i will be using long service leave till then.... All i had to do was get in contact with the HR department at my work and they have helped a lot with information and have let me know that it will def get payed through my employer... smile

Yip I just got told by Centrelink that everything goes thru my employer smile What a relief smilesmile
