Health care cards Rss

Alrighty, I posted not long ago about them and it turns out our estimate falls below the 46k max to get maximum FTA which means a health care card. Especially as I wont be working much past January. Anyway my question is for those who have/have had them, what places to you show them? I know at the doctors this morning we got the appt bulk billed even though we normally have to pay (& get back % on medicare) This is the first time ive ever had one.

I use ours to get into the dr for free and to get cheaper prescription medicines. Thats about it but when I was in school mum got us free dental at he government one and also cheaper glasses for me. The is actually a concessions book you can get it will tell you all the discounts you can get. I don't know about other states but in Tas we can also get cheaper power I believe.
Cheaper power and water in Vic movies and cheaper bus fairs and trains fairs as well saved me a bit as we take ds to melbourne fpr his eyes.
Ummm...money off your rego like a hundred dollars ours is due in nov so I'm thankful for that lol
I use mine for the doctors, getting prescriptions filled, at the movies, at the zoo/museum/art gallery/wildlife parks/aquarium, getting a discount on car rego/power bills/gas bills/water bills and I also used it for DS 4yo kinder last year - you don't have to pay fees if you have one!

I think I've listed all that we use it for. They do come in very handy when you don't have much money to spare!
Thanks for the replies, definately going to come in handy. Money is gonna get much tighter soon with new bub and me not working, even though I don't bring in a heap. So im guessing that concession means health care card when I see concession prices at some places smile

I don't have one anymore unfortunately but when I was pregnant with DD1 i did and now Im pregnant with number 2 I'm realising all the benefits I received that I thought all medicare card holders were entitled to (not just health care card holders). Dr's appointments as everyone else has said, i got all my ultrasounds free (not the NT scan), and much much cheaper prescription meds. It has already cost us a fortune in dr's appointments, pathology charges and ultrasound expenses and I'm only 12 weeks! Whenever you go for tests or appointments ask if they accept them because a lot of places do.

Wow I wish I lived in vic. In QLD we don't get cheaper power or rego with ours. I use ours for doctors appointments and prscriptions. Also the movies.
