Underactive Adrenal gland. Rss

DH hasn't been feeling himself for a week now, he went to the doctor on Wednesday with chest pains and a variety of other things. His doctor came to the conclusion that he may have an adrenal gland problem, as he gets stressed very easily (which has most likely been causing the chest pains), and has lost a lot of weight in only a couple of weeks.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any knowledge in this area that they can share with me? What drugs are given? How long does it take before they start to work? Did you or the person you know completely change when the drugs started working? Is there any natural alternative to drugs?

I've googled it, but not much came up about the treatment of it. Looking at the symptoms listed, DH has many of them, and has had them for a very long time. In a way I'm hoping this is what is wrong with him, as it might fix things that he thought was just from him getting older (not that he's old).

Hope someone can answer my questions, sorry it's such a long post.

Seems like an adrenal problem wouldnt be the most likely thing, but maybe an adrenal adenoma or something. It would have to be overactive to cause chest pain and weight loss Perhaps a phaeochromocytoma but they are extremely rare and very unlikely.

Weakness and weight loss are common symptoms of Addison's disease and Addisonian crises, and the chest pain is probably due to a a low blood pressure causing a rapid heart rate - which is also a symptom of very low cortisol levels - especially when stressed. Addison's disease has many causes - not just tumours!
