Natural cold and flu remedies.. Rss

..for my girls..

I know, wrong secion, but hey, I checked, and no-one ever goes there much..LOL

DD1 is 3 and DD2 is 19 months.. Both are getting colds, and with the flu season well on it's way was just wondering what natural products you use these days.. I've been out of it for a while (I used to sell the Brauer range, metagenics, and "mixed up" herbal remedies, before kids), and know how they work etc and what USED to be about..

BUT just need to know what are the ones that people use now - or what do YOU recommend.. Is there something "new and wonderful" out there on the market that I should be asking for??

TIA

Ree xx

all i do for dd is vaporizer and vicks on the soles of her feet and back and chest and keep her rugged up
Hey,

I was talking to a friends mum yesterday at the shops and she was about to go into one of those shops that sells all the Asian foods etc. She said that there is one herbal type thing they have that is just fantastic for sick people and is safe to use with the kids as well. Problem is it has a very big name which she didn't even know but its in a red box tongue

Ooohhh.. if you can find out the name, that would be great.. Not sure where I could buy something like that in Launceston, but we will be in Melbourne sometime in the next few months, so I could try then.. I have always been interested in the eastern remdies!!! Someone else here might know what it is.....
LOL I could point it out to you in the shop but thats all I know...it had a really long Gin sin ging ging kinda name (thats what my friends mum called it).

I don't know anything else about it just that she said it is really good and if more people knew about it it would be used by heaps.
im not a big medication person, i might take a pack of butter menthol with me if im realy sick with a sore throat and am out and about but thats about it.
i do the vicks thing, warm honey and lemon drinks, chicken broth, lots of garlic.
No, I'm not one for medications either.. that's why I prefer to use natural remedies to relieve colds etc smile
Thanks for all your replies - I think I'll go the Brauer mixtures.. I know they used to be good....LOL
I still swear by Brauers Head Cold spray- I still get the cold & feel crappy but not as crappy IYKWIM

Lucky for me my MIL's a naturopath so I get free treatments and medications from her. She does crystal light treatments on us, which the first time I did them I thought it was a load of bull, but it supprised me and I get them alot now! Also she gives us aussie bush flower essences in drops or cream depending on what's wrong. But you can buy those from health food shops now, it's great.

Also the ionic foot spa is great, it sucks all the toxins out through your feet, you can literally see it as the water gets dirtier, it's gross! But you feel amazing afterwards.

After a bad experience using Brauers on my DD i will never use any of those products again. I also heard from someone that it has either colours or flavours in it, so it's not natural like they say.

Brauer also do a Recovery Tonic which is for General Well being during and after being ill which is really good.

I pretty much just stick to:

Recovery Tonic
Vaporiser
Vicks on Feet, Chest, Back
Warm Lemon and Honey Drinks
Garlic

was Bubbagirlsmama

I use lemon and honey drinks, mustard footbaths (my 2 year old loves them!), I mix up honey and garlic cloves and let it steep overnight and use it as a throat soother - its great for coughs and taste quite nice suprisingly, I use vicks and olbas oil on our feet, backs, chests and put the olbas oil on pillows to help with breathing. For me and DP I make up a drink with honey, cinnamon, ground ginger, cloves, cayenne pepper and hot water - we take it before we go to bed and wake up feeling almost good as new. If we get a bad case of the flu we get Fortacold tablets which are awesome and I mix them into my toddlers meals coz they're safe for him too.
