Mummies with 'PCOS' Rss

hello, im wanting to know how many of you out there have 'PCOS'. I was diagnosed at 15 and still dont know much about it, im now 25. I just found a great forum site at www.posaa.asn.au .
I hate having it, my periods are so irregular. I can go 12mths + without one. My friends see it as a blessing. Ha! If only they knew. Both times that ive fallen pregnant i havnt known as i hadnt had a period, it was only by symptoms that i went and got a test.
It would be great to chat to some other mums who suffer the same thing and hear your stories.
Thanks, Martee.xx
Hi Martee

I am a long time lurker, first time poster here and I am 25 and was dx PCOS at age 18. The first time I fell pregnant was after I had a laproscopy and laser surgery to remove many cysts from my ovaries. After my DS was born in 2003 it seems i have not as much trouble with PCO but I have just come off implanon after 12 months which cause my body to have no period for 12 months and I just had a scan done recently only to discover the cysyts have come back.

I know what you mean about other people thinking its a blessing lol but it definitley can be troubling sometimes

Anyway Im happy to chat with you if you like
Take care
Donna

hey i have pcos too would love to chat to u ladies maybe on msn or something?

Hello Martee,

You are not alone dealing with the frustrations and side effects of PCOS. I'm now 29 and I was diagnosed at 19. The side effects and the way it effects everyone is different and at times upsetting. I too use to have periods once a year and my friends also thought it was a blessing, yeah right. I have since been blessed with a beautiful daughter after 6 years of trying including several treatment options. I didn't even know I was pregnant as I hadn't had a period since 3 months prior to conception though I was only 8 weeks. I don't understand still. Our daughter is now 15 1/2 months old. We are trying for bubs # 2 so hopefully I don't have to wait that long again. I'd love to chat so feel free to PM me and I'll give you me email/msn address.

Hi there,

I am 28 and was diagnosed about 3 years ago now. I had always had very irregular and very heavy periods which my lovely GP solved by putting me on the pill at 14 which I stayed on until we started TTC. I was extremely fortunate to fall with #1 after almost a year of trying and have had two more bubs since.

I still suffer very painful and irregualr bleeding and have had a number of cycst burst on me which was really scary at first.

The worst thing I am finding is battling with my weight and hair that is on my face. I also get alot of pain when I ovulate to the point where I live on nurofen plus-panedene forte for a day or so.

The Dr has recemmended that I have my tubes tied and also mentioned that I can have my uterus "scrapped" so that I don't bleed anymore. I have tried searching the web but can't find any info on it, I am a little scared what future implications of having this done may be although thrilled at the thought of no more periods.

Have to see a gyno to fully explore my options but living in a small town there is only the one and as he botched my mirena not to thrilled to see him again. So I suppose back to google and see what I can find
