Do you have a house cleaner? Rss

As the title says - do you have a house cleaner? Or have you ever used one for a once off occassion?

This is besides the obvious of you of course!!!

I have just hired someone to come tomorrow to clean my 2 bathrooms and do all of my floors. I have never ever used one and have thought that it was a 'toffee nosed' type of people who do. However after months of having lots going on around here with very sick kids [hospitalization] and my MIL being diagnosed with breast cancer and all the appointments that have been involved with that etc etc, I havnt been able to get back on top of things and it's really bugging me! It actually depresses me to walk into our ensuite or the main bathroom to see how dirty and messy they are. I've kept on top of most other chores but I just dont have the time to devote to the bathrooms atm.

We have 4 kiddies [3 at school] and also I help DH run our own business so my life is very very hectic. I also do voluntee work 2-3 times per week.

I feel so guilty though getting someone to come in and do my house. Is this normal? LOL
Sounds great! Anything to help ease the stress!
Dont be silly! Ofcourse you need a little help right now, you have enough on your plate without worrying also about the bloody floors and toilets! Thats what I would get a cleaner to do too, its hard enough keeping on top of the everyday stuff and zillions of loads of washing. Dont feel guilty, feel relieved - it will give you more time to spend on the important things. xx
i think its fine to do it and she will be thankful you did cause then she has work and gets paid lol

ocassionally (sp) i pay SIL to clean my kitchen lol if things get to much smile
I WISH!!!!!!!!!

Don't feel guilty, enjoy it!
we have someone that comes in once a fortnight to clean the bathroom, kitchen, vacuum and dust. she also wipes down cupboards etc.

i work part time and dh is full time. it is nice to have one weekend where i am not spending it cleaning.

dont feel guilty at all. i am starting to realise how valuable my time is.

I wish we could afford one!!! Out of interest, how much does it cost you?
Go for it I say!!

I had one for about a year and only don't have one now as we moved into a tiny 3 bedroom rental for a few months whilst our new house is being built. I'm pretty sure I'll get her back once we move into the new house. She only can once every 2nd for about 4 hours. That was enough to scrub the bathroom, vaccuum and mop the entire house and dust. On her off week we would just wipe everything down. Worth every penny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking of doing this too but also felt a bit snobby!! I like the other comments though... wouldn't it be better to spend more time having fun with your family than scrubbing floors. I hate cleaning! I wouldn't have a full time house keeper or anything but just maybe once a fortnight or even once a month. Maybe I will take the plunge... and not worry about looking snobby!

forget about how you look to others! Concentrate on what would improve your own life. I have spent months trying to work out how to incorporate a butler into ours! tongue
a house cleaner, that would be so nice. you are lucky. if i had a house cleaner......i could spend more time with my toddler daughter, rather than feel guilty everytime i tell her "mummy has to clean"
before i had my kids i thought it took only a snob to pay somebody else to clean their house BUT NOW i eat my words if i could afford it i would.
its a bit different from having maid wait on you hand and foot its just someone doing the odds and ends around the house once a week or fortnight or when ever. i would not feel bad at all. i would focus on feeling relaxed on those days and what can i do with myself/my family on my 'day's off'
