childrens books
Hi i was just wondering what are some of your favourite children's books?
Hi! I cant ever go past the "Thats not my..." (pirate, dragon, fairy, truck etc) range of touch and feel books. They are gorgeous and great quality. My chidren (ages 2-6) love reading them and have learnt several words from them. They make lovely gifts esp if you give a matching toy with them! For older kids I still buy Roald dahl books - classics! Hope that helps.
At the moment DD's favourites are the I Love You Book by Todd Parr (the pictures are strong and bold and great for her age group), The Only Me (which is a rhyming book about different body parts), and an ABC picture book that you lift the flap to reveal a picture.
I can't wait till she gets a little older and we can start reading the Cockys Circle & Dr Suess books; i love rhyming books!

People who live in glass houses.....shouldn't walk around naked!
My 18 month old likes picture books with animals or vehicles. My 4 year old loves Hairy Maclairy, and other books with rhyming and repetitive fun.
my DS loves all the wiggles books, usually the ones with colours and shapes in them, also Spot books, he lives lifting the flap to find out whatever's underneath!!
We also have a heap of nursery rhyme books, and I sing them to him instead of reading the words...

A fav for boys is 'the little yellow digger' by Betty & Alan Gilderdale
My girls love Hairy McLary books, Alexander's outing (Pamela Allen), Possum Magic (Mem Fox)..
A good place to stock up on great kids books (in Australia) is Australia Post outlets. Once a year they release packs of popular picture books. A pack of usually 4 paperbacks costs $15-$20. Authors usually include Mem Fox, Pamela Allen, Graeme Base etc
Great value at $5 per book

We read everything and anything. Anything by lynley Dodd (hairy mclairey series), my DD anything girly, myDS just anything. To the PP who can't wait to read dr suess, they are sooooooo long some of them. And DS want a book read cover to cover.... Just read them to find the short and sweet ones smile
DS's books that we read at bedtime are 'Muddypaws' and 'Where oh where is huggle buggle bear', in that order
DS - Nov 2008 & DD - Feb 2012
I have been reading the Golden Books collection to bubs to try get him to sleep when he stirs. I grew up on them and they are $3.00 at Big W. I have also ordered Corduroy for him as a Christmas present as I vividly remember that one from when I was little.
