outside play Rss

Hey XD

What sort of things do you do with your toddler outside? Dd is 20 months and im looking for outside play ideas.

Atm I have these
Playdough
blowing bubbles
Sit on cars
Climbing frames
Sand pit
Slide
Balls

Im thinking of getting a painting easel for her birthday.
Most of the stuff I play with her like the bubbles, climbing frame and playdough. Or I sometimes do and sometimes let her play alone like sandpit.

Anyone have an awesome outside idea they can share?

OOOHHH... INTERNET FIGHT. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO? CAPS LOCK ME TOO DEATH?
(Noddy's not fat ffs!)

they sound like good outside things isaiah likes to play with water outside and rocks lol everything else he just gives up on and if were at the park or playgroup he likes to play on the swing

My girls love love love bubbles. We cant go outside without bubbles.

Other things we do are Bear hunts. I hide teddies around the place and do a sort of follow the leader style trek around the backyard. we (I) sing the song too, but i never remember all the words so it usually it just "We're going on a bear hunt, we're gonna catch a big one, im not scared, what a beautiful day. Uh oh. a bear. *scream*" and run away while one of my heros grabs the bear and tackles it for me.

I never thought to do the play dough outside. Omg. Thats awesome. Im so sick of finding it on my socks and in the carpet.

Dh sets up obstacle courses to help froggys coordination (or lack there of) and mini usually joins in on those too. We play chasey, too.

Other than that i just let them run riot and do their own thing.

Pop up tunnels and those pop up cubby house things.
We have a swing set.
Paints
Bubbles, sticky bubbles are different but leave marks on windows.
Sand and water
Pegs and little fold out clothes line. Can peg up socks, undies etc when doing the washing.

We do the same as what the others have suggested!

Also Tea parties or teddy bear picnic are a favourite here and lately my boys have been playing MKR they make meals out of dirt leaves rocks water ect and then I have to pretend to eat it and give them a score lol, they play for hours digging watering and just making up their own games!

DS2 has his own veggie garden and worm compost so he spends heaps of time in there too!

Thanks!!
All these replies are awesome!

Someone mentioned those pop up cubby and tunnel things and I remembered I have those! I packed them away when we moved and I haven't got them out! I will grab them tomorrow.

Dd spends most of her time outside, she loves it.

My neighbour yesterday had a hula hoop tied to the tree with a skipping rope and the kids were throwing the ball through the hoop having a blast. Thought that was a great idea.

We make a fairy garden pretty regularly and put little trinkets in it, stones, flowers, painted ceramic things that you can get cheap at kmart, pretty ribbons, anything really. The kids play with for ages, the older ones talk to the fairies and dance and the little ones just move stuff around the yard and it keeps them entertained.

I am a big fan of messy play!! I really enjoy playing with kids with gloop.... all you do is put a cup of cornflour and half a cup of water in a big bowl and then mix it together... have water on hand to add extra to and then just squish it and play with it. When you get some in your hands and squeeze it it will turn solid, then you unclench your hands and it turns back to liquid again and runs through your fingers. You can also add colours and other textures to it like collected flowers or sand etc just to see how it feels and if it changes. Then when it drys if it gets on your concrete it is just powder again and easily comes off.

Ahh how could I forget. Paper mashe( ?). We made Easter eggs out of blown up water balloons and once they dried we painted them.
