Meals for child with meat allergy Rss

Hello my dd is allergic to meat and the only protein that she can eat is chicken and fish. Just curious is anyone else in The same boat and what foods do you prepare? She is really fussy as well like most kids so I guess any new ideas would be great. Thanks in advance
oh must be very hard for you.Im not sure how old your daughter is but i would try to get her proteins from other sources like eggs.you can do heaps with eggs. Also legumes like beans. She may be too young but Tahini spread on crackers, bread or with vegies is full of protein from chickpeas and calcium from sesame seeds,Your doctor may recommend a high protein drink or something like that so she can make up for what she is lacking from not being able to eat meat. You can slice up some tofu and lightly dust in breadcrumbs and lightly panfry in a bit of olive oil, sounds weird but i love it,bit like egg texture.I know vegetarians can be very healthy if they eat the right foods and have enough vitamins.I think she would need to have sufficient carbs like breads and cereals too so she has enough energy.Im definitely no doctor but wish i could help you more.A naturopath or dietician may help your daughter,at least she can eat some animal protein.Good luck with everything.
Hi, not a vegan myself, but if you checkout some of their websites they have some
Great dishes for babies and children.

Hi, I whiz up a can of lentils in the food processor and then add mashed vegies... depending on how old your daughter is as to how mashed the vegies will be. My babies don't have a meat allergy but they love it... You can do the same with chick peas and cannelini beans...Just another way to get more proteins in...
DD has no allergies but I love adding coles organic 4 bean mix to spag bol or curries/ stir fries etc. Also Cannellini beans can be cooked and mashed just like mashed potato.

She is 2but also has egg allergy as well but thanks for the input as it gets so hard at times but I didn't even think of the bean thing.. Thanks again ladies...
TVP (textured vegetable protien). Use it in almost any meal you would normally use mince for. It looks very similar to mince when cooked, its just dry brown flakes before. Check the supermarket health food section or the health food store. It's kind of tasteless so you need to "beef" it you with other ingredients, but it has the protien your looking for.

The advice on those is mainly for vegetarian children. I think the fact that your child can eat fish and chicken will make things a lot easier. There is not as much iron in white meat as red, but there is plenty of protein and enough iron if you include other sources.

We don't eat much red meat but the kids eat a lot of fish. If you can get her to like fish, it will probably really benefit her, especially if she has an allergy for life.
My son isn't allergic to meat, just doesn't like it. We give him Fry's Vegetarian Pattys/Schnitzel which are also Vegan so no eggs. They come in packs of 4 for around $10.61. They are in the frozen section at the supermarket.

I have found he has put on weight and has more energy.
