babies born at 36 weeks..

Hi all,
iam booked in to have my baby in 4 weeks which will make it 36 weeks on the dot due to major preavia.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a baby at this gestation and how they went i know they are all different but its nice to talk to someone who has had a baby around the same gestation.

My babys growth is good and his estimated weight is already 1900grams with 4 weeks to go.

Hi my twins were 35 plus 2 days and they were fine one 4 pounds the other neally 5 pounds one need a bit of air but all was fine when they were born.

I haven't personally but a friend had her boy at 36 weeks when her waters broke.
Her boy was fine, had a little jaundice but no nicu or anything like that.

My DS was 36+2. Waters broke at 36 weeks then spent 2 days getting the steroids in for his lungs. He had trouble feeding and spent 9 days in Special Care Nursery but was healthy and was just too tired to feed. He was big for that gestation too, he was 3100g.

My friend had her bub at 36 weeks and he was fine and went straight into the room with her. He was much smaller than my little man too.

Interestingly, there were twins in SCN with DS who were born at 32 weeks, and they were ready to go home at the same gestation as my son, which was 37+4. They were just waiting on the suck feeding to get going too.
Much better to have bub out if there's a risk of complications. As the doctors said to me, there is so much more they can do to help them if they're out.
My DS is now a cheeky 21 month old and you wouldn't know he was born early.

Hope all goes well, I had my DD at 36 weeks and she was fine. A little jaundiced but not enough to have light treatment or anything and her little lungs where fine. She weighed 2775g.

Hi Amanda,

I had my second daughter at 36 weeks due to toximia and she was fine. She was a little bit jaundice but not enought to need the UV light and we had to finger feed her for the first day as she wasn't latching and sucking properly but she soon caught on smile She was born weighing a tiny 2.1kg (4pound 10ounce)

I had my baby at 34+5weeks back in November. he weighted 2480grams and had to have a nasal gastric tube for feeding. They monitored his breathing too. He was admitted into the special care nursery for 12 days. When he was born his blood sugar was low and he didnt have the sucking reflex yet. He didnt develop any jaundice which was great but even when they do they have light therapy to help them combat it. I expressed my milk for him for the tube feeds and gradually we introduced suck feed and breast feeds.

He came home after 12 days and is fully breast fed and 6 weeks on he now weighs 4+kgs!

I had a section too so I had to recover from that and have a baby in the SCN and 2 kids under 4 at home!

I know I didn't have my baby at 36 weeks but just wanted to share....
My ds was born at 31w2days. Not sure why, just a premature birth (little monkey wanted to meet us) smile he was in hospital for 5w, all was well during that time, just had trouble breathing at birth, a little jaundice but otherwise a perfect healthy little boy. He came home when he was 36w old, 3 days before Xmas

I wish you all the best of luck on your new arrival in 4 weeks time, all will be fine so please don't worry. Your baby (and you) will be very well looked after by helpful experienced people at hospital, especially bubs at this stage of gestation.

Hi - I had my twins at 37weeks and they were fine 6b2 & 6b3 they didn't need nicu care at all and we went home the next day. Good luck

I had my daughter at 36 weeks as my waters broke.
She was born weighing 2700kg. She had jaudice that kept going up and down and was under lights on and off for nearly a week and we had to have follow up blood tests after we got home.
She had a nasal tube that we would top with expressed milk if she didnt feed enough. She didnt take long to latch its just it was so tiring for her and she would go to sleep.. We were in NICU for 12 days. Other than that she was perfectly fine..
