how long did it take for you? Rss

hi!

im just wondering how long it usually takes for things down there to return to normal after giving birth..

i had my son 4 1/2 months ago and still havent had a period! getting a bit worried but im not sure as this was my first bub and i had a c-section

your opinions would really be appreciated! smile
Are you breastfeeding? If you're breastfeeding at intervals less than around 3-4 hours you prob won't get your period- but everyone is different! I was b'feeding every 2 hours and got mine back when DD was 3 months old.

I wouldn't worry about it at all- everyone's body has it's own time frame of when to get back to normal!
How long is a piece of string?

I had my periods back within 12 weeks of DS1 being born, but she stayed away for 11 months after DS2 was born. Throw in birth control and I average 2 periods a year and he's 5 this year.

There can be lots of things influencing it....birth control, bf or not, your individual body chemistry and of course, unless it has been ruled out, pregnancy. Generally speaking, a woman who is not bf can expect a period within a few weeks of giving birth, while bf mothers can expect to wait a bit longer....though of course there are exceptions to this.

If you are concerned, speak with your Doctor.

Hi, my second bub is nine months old now, and I didn't get it back til 8months with both of them, so don't worry bout it, everyone is different.

im bf every 2-3 hours (day and night!) and not on the mini pill so i guess ill have to just wait and see... not that im complaining its just weird not having that monthly chore smile

did a bit of searching over the net and it looks like it can take upto 12 or so months for some bf women to get back to normal, WOW lol

No such thing as "normal" as with all other matters relating to kids and birth!!! With DD1 I breastfed her for 13 months and was on the mini pill, my periods returned when she was just 6 weeks old and I got them every 2 - 3 weeks!! With DD2 I breastfed for 18 months and was on the mini pill, my periods returned when she was about 6 months and came about every 25 days or so.
You're fine smile As other people have said, it can take however long it takes while you're breast feeding.

With dd1 i didnt get one until she was about 13 months i think. This time around, Mini was 18 months...so only last month!! It was more annoying than worrying, i just wanted the first one to come and be over with laugh

With DS1 i expressed till he was 10wks old(couldnt breastfeed) and got my period back when he was 5 1/2months old. My DS2 is nearly 11months old and im still breastfeeding and havent had my period back yet smile
