After giving birth Rss

Hi all.
i remember after having my 2nd bub, while i was in hospital and at home for about two weeks everytime i put bub on the boob I would contract and it was so painfull!!! I was told the pain is worse after each bub. Just wondering how you managed to deal with it????
Thanks - Naomi-Jo
Yep it's extremely painful! I just gritted my teeth and put up with it. My first baby wasn't so bad, second was awful... they were like labour pains and sometimes I almost started crying because it wasn't fair that I still had to put up with that after already going through labour. lol

There's really nothing you can do... the midwives suggested panadeine forte to me but because it's a sudden pain not a constant one I didn't feel it would make much difference so I didn't take anything.

Some people find heat packs helpful, but I didn't try that either. My second bubs they lasted for 5 days.... yucko.

Oh gosh I remember that pain... sore sore sore sad If it gets worse with each bub I am petrified for my 3rd sad
I dont remember it but I had c sections.Ouch for you!

Would't you have it too if you breastfed? It's the pains of your uterus contracting or getting smaller?
I did not breast feed apart from 3 days with ds1.I think I did have a few pains but more like period cramps , nothing like the 26 hours of labour to start with. Then again its probably more that likely I have forgotten- its been almost a decade since my last baby

I don't remember them with my 1st but I did get them with DD2. Both c sections. Lasted a few days and was most painful when the let down happened.

It is awful! gasp

With my third I had to have a chuck bucket with me when I fed for the first couple of days and tryed to have someone there to help hold the baby for me until I got accustomed to the pain. Mine only lasted 3-5 days but were very painful and started not long after birth. I got mild pains for a few days more too I think.

I found panadol took the edge off the pain and I just thought that it would be over soon and then I wouldn't have to do it anymore.

I think like birth, BFing ,etc it is just one of the things that we have to deal with to get our lovely babies wub

My blog, take a peek into my world

The pain is from the uterus contracting back to its usual non-pregnant size. Some people don't feel pain though... my cousin breastfed and said she didn't notice any pains after.

I remember these... vividly! I can't really comment on them being worse 2nd time around (as DD was very prem so I wasn't as "stretched" as I was with DS) but it's the first thing I tell pregnant friends when they ask about birth. I felt SO cheated that nobody had told me!!

For some reason mine didn't seem to be affected by bf though... I'd just get them randomly wherever, whenever. Never really did anything for the pain, as Chalys said; it's pretty sudden and gone after a few seconds (which seems like hrs). Just gotta take it like a woman I guess smile

Gimme 5 weeks or so and I'll have some updated info for you tongue

Mine were really only slightly uncomfortable with DD1 (Natural birth) worse with DS1 (caesar) but didn't really get it with DD2 (natural) or DS2 (caesar). But I don't think it really matters how babies were born!

vkw - You didn't breast feed!!!! That's why youre kids are so dumb!!! LOL!

Sorry! With recent threads, I couldn't help myself!

Didn't even notice any after DD1 but they were really bad after DD2. I just breathed through them like they were contractions!
