Has anyone had the Depo Provera Contraceptive Injection and had problems? Rss

After having my second child in Dec I was debating the Marina or Injection, I had the Depo Provera Contraceptive Injection 2 months ago and have had issues ever since. I have always had regular periods with cramping the day before and only had short periods lasting 3 days. I had the injection in the middle of my cycle, exactly 14 days, that afternoon had a bad headache that lasted a week, I had some spotting then 14 days later had a period that lasted almost 2 weeks, it stopped for 3 days and I got another one, this has continued to happen every 2 weeks and lasting longer, but the pain I am getting with them is unbearable and lasting up to 5 days. It is as if I am getting them 28 days from my normal cycle and then 28 days from the injection date. I have been to the dr who gave me some Primolut tablets to stop the bleeding, these have not worked and set my moods through the roof. I was under the impression that the injection would stop periods all together or I may experience some spotting at the most. I am feeling so tired and no have no energy atm and Im sure its related.
If anyone has had the injection I would love to hear about your experience or anyone with suggestions, please help.
I had the depo for a while and it was horrible. I was bleeding more often than not and had the worst mood swings.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear you had had a bad experience with this also. I had previously heard such good reports about it prior to having the injection. I guess I just have to ride out the next 6 weeks and choose another option. I hope my husband can put up with my moods and tears for that long smile
You poor thing, I have heard nothing but negative things about the injection, really plays up with your hormones. Luckily its temporary and you can switch to something that will suit you better.

Can't say I have tried it, but here is a link to your other options, to keep you positive: http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcart...

Hope the 6 weeks goes fast for you!
I have nearly tried everything, depo - weight gain, moody, implinon (arm) constant spotting and severe mood swings, Pill - weight gain and loads of headaches. Merina I had this for about 4 yrs was good 90% of the time occasional pain but was told when had it removed the strings were cut to short, friends of mine have it and had the first one fall out but had that replaced and all good. If you are looking for a non permanent option the Merina would be my first choice. You can spot for a little while but that settles down I found myself and my friends we all had so many problems with all the birth control options but the Merina pretty much helped us out.

Everyone is different though but do give yourself some time to adjust to the new birth control.
