I am just wondering if it is wrong to settle my 4 week old baby by having her lie down next to me on my bed until she falls asleep and then putting her in her bassinet??
Settling technique

I think that in those early weeks whatever works for you both is fine. I personally rocked and patted both my girls to sleep everytime until they were 10 weeks old and then started to 'train' them to self settle. Both have been fantastic sleepers.

Its absolutely not wrong, if this is what works for your baby then go right ahead and continue what you are doing.
Your baby is so very little, only 1 month old - cherish this time of closeness.
There's no rules about how you get them to sleep, its all about what works for you and for newborns especially and I believe up to 6 months old - its perfectly ok to help them off to sleep smile Rock them, lay with them, love them smile
Plenty of time later on for them to learn to go to sleep on their own... a tiny baby needs their mum.
My DD is nearly 6mths old & she goes to sleep either in my arms or lying on the couch next to me before she is put in her cot.. I dont see anything wrong with it at all!!! laugh There is just something so sweet about watching a bubba drift off to sleep!!
i used to stress about this issue..looking back now i think i tried too hard!!! i also used to get stressed if she wssnt in her crib asleep first thing like i was strict about her falling asleep in her rocker or me!!! insane i know but i got it into my head that she will get used to it and she will get into a habbit. but then after talking it over with another mum, i realised so many things...i felt calm and not so anxious about it all. i let my bub fall asleep where ever. calm bub...calm mum

I think that is a beautiful way for bubs to go to sleep. Enjoy! smile

I agree! I love watching my little ones eyes slowly close, its precious!

I think it's a beautiful way for babies to go to sleep. Babies love to feel the closeness of mum and dad while drifting off to sleep.
My ds is 14 months and goes to sleep in my arms and then sleeps in his cot.

I'm so glad to read these posts ! My son at times won't settle unless he's wrapped in his cocoon swaddle and in our arms and I was thinking i should be trying to put him in his cot just before he's fully asleep cos otherwise he won't resettle knowing he's not in my arms and I'm worried this will become harder but he's only 6 weeks.
