Size / Growth Rss

Hi i haven't had my lil man yet i'm 20 weeks now and this is my first so just wondering how fast do they grow in general and at roughly how many months to what clothes size the whole size thing confuses me all i know is he'll be around 0000 when he's born oh and how long do they stay in each size roughly?
well it all depends on the baby my son was in each size for a month til he got to just one 0 then they fit for almost a year he is almost 17 months and is 1 and 2 now

your baby should be a four 0's when he's born so get a few of each size and if they fit longer you can always go buy more but if they dont fit for long you didn't waste any clothes

i also only bought jumpsuits in 0000 because i didn't think they would fit long and because i thought they would be more comfy for him
From memory my DS was in 0000's for about 6 weeks.

000 from 6 weeks - 3 months
00 from 3 months - 6 months
0-1 from 6 months - now

My DS was 8 pound when he was born. I hardly used any of the 0000 clothes I had.
I agree that it depends on the bub, my first was straight into 000, he never fit into any 0000, he was only in 000 for a couple of weeks. He ate like a champ and was into size 1 well before his first birthday, however my second child is 12 weeks today and is still fitting into 000 and from the look of things will still be in them for a few more weeks at least. Buy a few of each size to start with as advised in the previous post, that way if you need more you can go out and buy them but if not you haven't wasted any money. Hope all goes well for you.
It would depend on the baby.

My DS born full term was in 00000 for 4 weeks, 0000 for 3 months, 000 for 3 months, 00 for 4 months, and now at 17 months wearings 0 in pants and has since 10 months and size 1 in shirts since 13 months.
Just be aware that baby clothes differ in size between brands, eg 0000's from Best n Less & Kmart are bigger than Targets, Osh Kosh etc, some are more slender while others are wider. I found the bonds wondersuits are a size smaller than the target suits even though labeled the same size, so when buying bonds, i always buy one size up.

Good luck with the clothes shopping, you can find some really good deals for second hand clothes, in the early stages the clothes are hardly worn and not stained due to not being on solids, then you dont feel bad when they didnt get to wear the new outfit you bought.
Really depends on your bub. My DS went straight into 000. I think he stayed in 000 and 00 for maybe a month-6 weeks, then in 0 a little bit longer. He's now growing out of size 2 and doesn't fit into "baby" clothes anymore, so now I have to shop in the kids section tongue Haven't had him weighed and measured for a while but at 8 months he was in the 97% for his weight and off the chart with his length.
He was only slightly above average with his size when he was born.
Zara was born 7pound 7oz and some of the 0000 were loose. We toyed with idea of buying a few 00000 when we came home but didn't bother as she spent all the time wrapped anyway so no-one seen what she was wearing for first week anyway. Within a week she had grown into 0000 and some 000 (like above poster said wondersuits were small). Zara is now 1 month old and in 000 for most clothes.

Have a friend who had a 10 pound baby who spent a few days at hospital in 0000 and at 3 weeks he is still in 000.

I wouldn't buy too many 0000 maybe just 1-2 all inones with snaps at bottom. Most people will buy you 000's so if you are going to have a baby shower I would wait and see how much you get. I have so many 000's that I am not going to get through them all.

I have my favourite outfits that are easy to do up and undo for change time that I tend to keep washinging and wearing. Everyone told me to buy heaps of singlets I use a few on a hot day with a nappy but they annoy me as I constantly am pulling them down. Another tip don't buy too many socks I have heaps of those I don't use - lots of all inones have feet in them if it's a bit cool for newborns. If hot I use short sleeve all inones with no socks.

Avoid picking up clothes with buttons on the back of neck - pain in the bum to have to take them on and off.

On a related note anyone know about sleeping bag sizes thinking of getting one for winter Zara has just reached 4.1kg and is a month old wondering what size I should get.
my DS was in 0000 for 8 weeks, now he's in 000.

Just an aside - I found I just used jumpsuits and onesies in the first few weeks, didn't use the oh so cute jeans and shirts I had bought as they are too much of a pain when you are changing your baby 10x per day! So although the more complicated outfits are so cute, I would stick to just buying the basics for the first little while!
Depends how fat or long your baby is.

My daughter... born 3.5kg or 7.7pounds 51.5cm long
now 6 and half months 7kg 70cm long

0000 for 2 weeks
000 till 2 months
00 till 5 months
0 and some size 1 clothes now age 6 half months

Iv found bonds the most acurate at there size measurements.
Also i bought some expensive clothes and some cheap clothes but i dont buy the cheaper clothes anymore eg kmart because it wouldnt fit over my daughters head but would fit her body so its not cheaper in the long run. Also i found the sizes were smaller in general.
Also agree with above post , when your baby really small (up to 3 months maybe even 6 months) you dont want to fuss with cute outfits while your baby is crying (especially if its cold). I only used onesies untill 3 months of age and still used them alot till 6 months , now i find it easier to use pants and tops.Unless your baby is born in summer....then you proberly wouldnt want to use really warm oneises.
Both my girls didn't fit 0000 clothes at all! They went straight into 000. I still have some brand new newborn sized clothes with the tags on!
