What the *beep* is going on?? Rss

I had my DS 8 weeks ago and for about 6-7 weeks i have been exercising, at the start on the bike and now back onto the treadmill, running and walking for 45 minutes 6 -7 days a week. My stupid weight hasnt moved. I was 54kgs pp and went up to 64kgs but have only lost 4 kgs. I have no idea what im doing wrong. Im watching what i eat and have also been doing some weight training as well to help me but nothing is happening. Surely i would be seeing something by now. Its driving me crazy. I sooo dont want to have to waste money on buying a whole new wardrobe for summer. Any tips??

I also find it hard to fit in long workouts as i have a 2.5 yr old as well!!!
I doubt there is anything wrong! Your body is still going through enormous hormonal changes after giving birth, so don't hard on yourself. It took nine months to put weight on, and generally it should take about that long to get it off. If you are breast feeding, your body also tends to store a bit of extra fat for energy. I always heard that breast feeding helps you loose weight faster, but I found I put weight on! But it came off gradually when I weaned. I found strength exercises rather than too much cardio helped me too.

The weight training might account for it. Muscle weighs more than fat.
Whlst I am not a big believer in the 9 months on so 9 months off theory, I do think that you will fnd it may take 2-3 months to lose the weight. I found after my two babies I was able to lose the additional weight best by exercising outdoors rather than on a treadmill. If you can get outside with the pram you get a better all round workout as you are using strength and cardio at the same time. Alternating your routes is important as if you become bored it becomes a chore. I actually ended up lighter after each subsequent pregnancy. It did take a couple of months rather than weeks. There are some brilliant post pregnancy workout DVDs out there as well. Tracey Anderson one is brilliant for re-toning your body, it's not easy but it works! Good on you for getting stuck into it, let's see how I go after number 3 arrives!
Don't forget your breasts can add a kilo or two!
You hormones will still be playing a big part in it. I would just eat a healthy diet and do whatever exercise you can but dont push yourself too much as you body will still be recovering. I was lucky with DS that I lost weight while breastfeeding but didnt with DD. Also I was told that 12weeks (3months) is the magic number when things settle down and weightloss tends to kick in.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the encouragement ladies smile
I wont give up, im determined to get my body back its just taking longer than thought. I guess i just need to see light at the end of the tunnel...
I agree with pp. You've probably been building muscle. Grab a tape measure and get the crucial widths and re-measure in a couple of weeks to a month. You'll probably get a better result than the scales anyway!
