I like it! It's not a common name and possibly one I wouldn't use but still cute! Especially good if your DH likes it!

It's nice, feminine and not very common.

I'm personally not a fan for some reason it just reminds me of a dog!! Maybe if it didn't I might like it. No idea were te dog came from! If you like it though that's the only thing that matters smile

Me personally, I don't like it, to me it sounds old-fashioned but not in a good way (like some old-fashioned names are cute and remain popular, but this isn't one of those).

But hey, it's good that we all have different tastes, otherwise we'd send our children to school and they'd end up in a class where 30 other kids have exactly the same name!

We've had dogs called Luke, Bella, Anton and Max. Plenty of people names their kids those names too.

I have no idea why it's reminding people of a dog's name- I've never heard of a dog called Shelby!! I did think about it kinda being like a car name though!!

DD has a unique, pretty girl's name so I want to have something not common but not weird wink

I thinks it's lovely smile it makes me think of Julia Roberts she was Shelby in a movie and I think that's the first time I heard it.

Yep, Steel Magnolias was my first thought "Shelby, drink your juice!"

There used to be a series of books called 'Selby the talking dog' not sure if that is why people think it reminds them of a dogs name.

As for naming ur bub that i called my daughter Lucy and since found out like 5 people with dogs called Lucy lol but we certainly don't get her mixed up with a dog.

As for people's comments of it reminding them of a dogs name, I wouldnt worry about it. If you use the name, then people will soon stop thinking of it like that.

I have a friend who's DDs name is Myshka and people said the same thing! But now the thought never crosses their minds and the name suits her so well!
