Naming baby same as acquaintances baby

What are peoples thought on naming their baby the same name as an acquaintances baby?

Recently an acquaintance named her baby boy the name i have always planned on using if I have a boy. It is an unusual name and I dont want to seem like I am stealing the name...

What is accaptable. By the time I have a bub, hers will probably be over 18 months old.

If it's an acquaintance i would just go ahead with it and name my bubba what i want. You shouldnt have to explain yourself but if she asks, just tell her the truth; that you had always planned on using that name!

If it were me I would still use it but is depends on the relationship really. I wouldn't worry about it for now anyway you might have girls wink

My thoughts are, if it is an acquaintence are you likely to still be in contact with this person in years to come? I have found that I seem to "know" someone with just about every name I like, so I'm not going to restrict my name choices just because I know someone with that name. Different if it is my best friend though. See what I'm getting at?

I wouldnt but thats just me, I'm funny like that and dont like names if I know someone with that name. I always find it reminds me of the other person.
