labour the 2nd/3rd time around or 4th 5th 6th lol Rss

good morning ladies, how are u 2day?

i was just looking to c if the theory is right that each labour is quicker, my labour with bella 9 months ago was 4 hrs and tha twas quick enough for me, im due for this bby in august and am really not wanting to be birthing at home lol.

so if u would like to share ur story that would be great'

thanks smile

DS1 was born in just over 3 hours born 3 weeks early
DS2 was born in just over 2 hours born 2 weeks early

I perfer the 1st labour
My first labour was over 24 hours. My second closer to 30 hours, third was 12 and fourth was only 10. smile
First labour 11.5 hours (12 days early)

Second labour 25.5 hours (3 weeks early)

If this one goes longer than that I"m going to scream.
all my labour times are taken from first niggle to birthing bub and placenta

DS1 - 1hr 30min (5weeks early 2890g- 6lb 3oz drug free)
DS2 - 7 hrs (39w 3d- 4460g- 9lb 13oz, gas used, this was the easiest labour)
DS3 - 1hr 13 min (38w 4d - 4600g- 10lb 2oz, gas used)
DD - 50min (39w 3d- 4040g - 8lb 15oz drugfree)
DS4 - 18 mins (39w 4d - 4880g, 10lb 12oz, drugfree)
1st - 32 hours from 3cm-10cm + 4 hours of pushing before an emergency c-section. 3 weeks early when he was born - 3.5 weeks early at start of labour tongue 9lb 4oz.

2nd - 12 hours from 3cm-10cm before another emergency c-section. 13 days early. 8lb 5oz.

ETA: how many weeks early and weights.
DD1 was 29 + hours from first niggle. at 39 weeks 5lb 9oz (posterior no assistanc use of gas and peth)
DD2 was 9 hours drug free at 38+4 weeks 7lb 9oz
DS was 6 hours from waters breaking at home to delivery at hosp at 39 weeks 7lb 11oz drug free

DS's was by far the easiest but also the most intense i wasnt having contractions before waters broke just BH.
with DD's my waters were broken just before delivering.

DD1 was around 8 hours
DD2 was about 2 hours
Ds #1 was 5 hours 8lb 1oz gas used and epi. 2 days over
DD was just over 3 hours no time for anything as I decided when it was too late as she came so quick.7lb 14oz on dd
DS#2 was 2 3/4 hours with gas 8lb 12oz was 3 days over.
DS#3 was 61/2 hours as Ihad an epi put in when induced. 8lb 2oz. He was induced due to retained placenta after #3 and went to surgery so had epi incase it happened again. Was 12 days early.

The epi slows it all down unfortunately. DD birth was the best for me and easiest but she broke my water as she crowned. Because she came so quick she was blue lacking oxygen when she came out.

ds was 16 hours - 10lb 10oz - gas and pethadine
dd was 4 hours - 8lb 8oz - epidural right from the start

much prefer dd's birth.
I was induced for my 2nd labour, but it only took 4 pushes and DS was out, whereas with my 1st, 2nd stage was 2hrs!!!

1st 4hrs-1 shot of peth and a 3rd degree tear
2nd(induced) 9hrs-1 shot peth
ds was 8hours epi after 4hours and 3rd degree tear. i was induced on the drip at 41 weeks.

dd was 20.5hours epi after 18 hours(after asking for it for 12)only a small tear but the cord was around her neck and was the scariest time of my life! i was induced with gel at 39.6 weeks due to high blood pressure.

i much prefer DS birth. but DDs labour and recovery was much easier.

thank u so much ladies, so really the theory of labours getting faster isnt right.

Ds1, c section, never laboured
Ds2, 36 hours, natural no meds
Ds3, 2 hours, natual drug free
DS1 is officially down at 3hrs 56min
DS2 was about 2 hours, not sure what he was officially though. If you count my labour as starting from when midwife arrived though, he was born in under 90 minutes from that happening, so officially he could be 90 minutes.

Fast labours aren't as great as they sound either...I personally wouldn't wish one on my worst enemy! wacko I have to say though that my second birth was 'easier' and I enjoyed it alot more but I put that down to the fact that I was at home where I wanted to be and not in hospital. hehehehehehehe

Ooh and who gave Ricki a neg for her reply?????? roll eyes huh blink

Thanks chicks, I appreciate the support...

It will be negative, simply because it is me that has posted, seems to have happened a lot lately - I must have a stalker.
Don't worry about it though, while they are negging me, they are leaving some other person alone, and I have far more important things in my life to worry about someone showing their nastiness toward me....
Don't sweat the small stuff, Life is far too short for that!
DD1 was 22 hours from my waters breaking, no signs prior to that.

DD2 was having BH for a couple of hours, waters broke then the contractions hit hard and she was born an hour later.
ricki, did you make it to hospital for your 18 minute birth???

dd1 was 12 hours, well 4 mins short of 12
dd2 was 4 hours

i plan to have at least one more and am so scared it will be a quick one, i want to, no i MUST be in a hospital LOL

dd1 i don't think hurt as much but i was more tense about what was happening

dd2 was heaps worse pain wise LOL but i coped heaps better and was more relaxed
ds was induced so 4 1/2 hours from waters being broken and drip going on. DD was 10 hours from waters breaking at home to delivery. would have been quicker if i was more active. both 2nd degree tears and had a PPH with DD but it was still a better recovery.

DS 11/01/08 DD 20/12/2009

Thankfully, I was already in Hossi with pre-eclampsia, otherwise he would have been born at home. I say "thankfully", not because I was thankful that I had pre-eclampsia again, but because I had some major problems post birth that may have been fatal had I not been in hossi. I am still having hassles with post birth stuff now - more than 9 weeks later.

DS1 and DD were nearly born in the car. DS1 I had my leg up on the dash pushing when we pulled up at emergency, and was born less than 5 minutes in the delivery room
DD was nearly born in the emergency department, as the triage nurse was too busy chatting to let me through to go to delivery! I yelled at them that the baby's head was coming and they rushed me through. I made it to delivery and she was out about 4 mins later.
DS1 - documented as 6hrs 50mins from first contraction (& waters breaking) to delivering placenta. But from 'established' labour 3-4cm it was only 3hrs.

DS2 - had waters broken as i'd been 4cm dilated for about 3-4days but had nothing but braxton hicks. From waters being broken to him born was 1hr 15mins.

They say 'generally' 2nd labours are half the amount of time than 1st's and that certainly applied to me smile

BTW - i'd take my 6hr labour any day over my 1hr one!

People do it to me too. laugh I was just curious was all, I liked someone's idea about being held accountable for giving out + & -'s but then again.......maybe we should get rid of it all together? unsure

wow sounds like you have an interesting time getting your babies into the world, hope everything is getting better for you, sounds a bit traumatic!!!
I wasn't happy having to go in dp's v8 manual car on the way to hossi, damn changing gears while i'm having contractions, but thankfully got there in plenty of time compared to some of you girls!!

me too!!

son1 was 14 and a half hours from first contraction to baby born
son2 was 7 hours 19 mins from waters breaking and first contraction...

I cant believe how many of you have had such short labours! wacko
DD - 16hours (induced @ 8 days overdue). Epidural and pethadine shot
DS - 4hours No drugs

DS birth was amazing, so quick, pain very bearable up until about 45minutes before i delivered! Loved it!

Wow thats incredibly fast!!

With DS 1 my labor was exactly 12 hours long from the start of my first contraction to birth.

With my DS 2 my labor was 7 hours long from the start of my first contraction to birth. But this one was alot more painful than my first which I was surprised about. Was thinking it was going to be easier.

But the theory was correct in my case smile
hmmm can't see many really long labours? think mine so far is the biggest difference.
The first was 36 hours & the second was only 3 hour & 2 minutes
