How did you calculate your length of labour ? Rss

I never really know what to say when people ask how long my labour was as I went into early labour then that stopped for about 5 hours started again, then stopped again for about 12 hours then started again, but then still i have just counted from the time the contractions REALLY kicked in to give my labour length time.

It's hard when it comes and goes to really know the whole length !!

How did u calculate your labour time ??

Id like to know that as well... With DD1 i was induced at 8pm Friday night had my waters broken at 12.30pm on the sat and was born 3 hours later... They classified that as a 3 hour labor..

DD2 Started off feeling regular contractions at 2am Friday morning didn't get to the hospital til 7pm at which time i was 7cm dilated and had her at 10pm.. They also classed this as a 3 hour labor... That was just 3 hours from the time i got to the hospital...

I think they all figure it out differently unsure

i dont know what i would say if i had your labour but with mine
i woke up to a hind water leak and 8ish am and then the contractions started soon after went to the hospital and he was born just before 4 and they classed it as 8 hours which it was
It is a tricky one. With DD1 my hindwaters started leaking on wednesday night, then they stopped a few hours later, then it started again with a bloody show on friday morning with pains 10 minutes apart. Went to hospital at 8am, had her at 9:20 saturday morning and they counted it from when I had the bloody show, so it was a 26 1/2 hour labour.

Same thing with DD2, the midwives timed it from when I had bloody show/waters leaking.
I calculated from when I had my first contractions with both my babies, but I think the midwives/dr's take it from the really intense contrations (2nd stage of labour - 5mins or so)
With my first from when my water broke till delivery 8 hrs and my water broke at home
With my Secound also from when water broke to delivery 1 hr Also water broke at home

I'm not sure how each hospital calculate labour time
Maybe some go by active labour time only than the whole process of labour From 1-10 centimetres
My midwife said from the time she examined me, I was 3-4cm and had been having regular strong contractions for 2 hours already. So from first contractions it's 11hours but I say 9 hours.

I was told that its calculated from when the cervix starts dilating (think that's 2nd stage)to when baby is born.
I started counting from when I felt pain and contractions to the moment bub was born. That is just me though.

i just count from when the contraction REALY started. with my second i was in prelabour for days but since my cervix wasnt moving i dont count that, i count it as a 3.5 hour labour cause thats how long it took from the time it realy started hurting to when he was born.

2nd stage is delivery. so 1st is labour 2nd is delivery and 3rd is delivery of the placenta. but when the cervix starts dialating is probably when you should start counting from but in reality you realy dont know when that happened unless your were having an internal when it started so i would just count from the realy intense contractions but ive also never gone into labour naturaly so have never had that build up from light to full on contractions.

I count from when the really intense contractions started, for me that was 5 hours. my first little niggling contraction was 24hrs before birth, my waters broke 12 hrs before, and I was in second stage/pushing for 2 hours.
