2nd baby Rss

Hi everyone, just wanted to share my birth story.

My first birth I didn't cope so well and didn't have great support. Ended up having epidural, then bubs HR dropped and wouldn't pick up. Had a failed vacuum then forceps delivery and had and episiotomy. Bubs was straight away taken and put on oxygen.

In contrast this time was a totally different experience. Contractions started @ 4am and were quite strong from the beginning. We arrived at hospital at 9.45am, still coping really well, focusing on my breathing and a lot of pelvic rocking. At the hospital the midwife felt my tummy and bubs was ROP so still had to turn. I could feel bubs turning with every contraction.

Around 10.45/11am got into shower on my knees lent on a ledge. First contraction my body had a little push(strange as never felt that the first time), and my waters broke. Felt the adrenalin kick in and felt alert and energetic. The pushing got stronger and between a contraction we got out of the shower and onto the bed in a similar position(raised the head of the bed, on my knees facing the bed head and leaning on it).

Bubs was crowning and the pain was bad but I knew I was almost there. Just wanted to push her out but didn't want to tear(thought i would due to episiotomy scar). With the guidance of a great midwife at 11.46am bubs was born. Bubs was handed straight to me:)No tears and a natural third stage with delayed cord clamping(bout 20mins). My fiancee was great the entire time, he is my rock.

Such a different and beautiful experience compared to my first. I had 2 panadol for a headache early on in labor and no more drugs until after pains when I took panadol again. Had no internals, no interventions. Few words were spoken as I wanted a quiet labor and to basically be left to do as my body and baby needed me to do. We left hospital the same day after bubs was checked by pediatric nurse. Birth can be amazing:)
sounds like you had a wonderful experience. im going to have my second in over 2 months and plan to go drug free again so it is lovely to hear such positive experiences!
That's so good that you had a positive birth experience 2nd time round. I am strangely looking forward to my next birth (not even preggers yet though!) because I learnt so much from my first birth that I think I will be much more prepared and empowered for the next one. I would like to try having a more 'quiet' birth for the next one, only because I found I was wasting energy screaming and it was very distracting having people talk to me. So next time I would like to try and channel my energy into breathing etc rather than bellowing... and I don't want anyone to talk to me please!

Pregnancy yoga helped me a lot too, to prepare physically, emotionally and spiritually. madelinesmummy23 having a quiet birth was what I needed to stay focused and in tune with bubs and my body, I hope you have a great birth experience next time. Goodluck justdoit, sure you will have another great birth.
What a great story- thanks for sharing! Gives me encouragement for labour in 10weeks smile I am feeling positive but it still helps hearing a birth story like yours!

Well done, glad all went well smile
