I will be starting our first round of artificial insemination in just over a weeks time.

Just wanting to hear any sucess stories or advice that you could pass on!!

Hi Debstar7 - I personally haven't done IUI - but my friend did, and hse got preg with twins first round Best of luck to you !

We are on our first cycle of IUI...had bloods taken on Friday, called the clinic and was told to come back on Monday for more bloods so Im guessing Im going to be going back to see the FS on Tuesday or Wednesday for our first insemination.

When the FS did the ultrasound on Friday he said there was a high chance of twins as I have two good sized follicles so fingers are crossed....for one or two, I'd just be happy to go nine months with a sticky baby.

Are you on ant meds to get the eggs to a good size also be prepared if they don't know that is the time to inseminate to go back that afternoon because that has happened to me good luck

did you go in for blood tests and where told to come back in the afternoon? I hope that doesn't happen to us as DH can only get mornings off work....now Im worried!

yes have had tests in morn then told to come back in arvo the same day

Oh okay...my FS tested Friday and said that I wouldn't need to go back until Monday (and that was before he got the results)

Now Im going back for another blood test on Monday to check hormone levels again and the FS said he would probably see me back on the Tuesday...so fingers crossed that that's still the plan...mind you if he tells me to come back Monday afternoon I will be in my car faster than you can say my name!!

if it is the first time they are not sure what your peak will be so it is possible but then again I have been going for awhile and as you know the body does strange things so I have gone in the arvo about 3 times so do be prepared good luck

Worked for us - 2nd attempt. Good luck! We had 3 follicles so i was half expecting multiples but turned out we got just the one. smile

As to this, I would also advise if you get the option, ask for the hormone shot to induce ovulation. They are then able to more accurately pinpoint the timing of insemination which is so critical. Of course this is simply because it is what worked for us whereas the first time didn't (where they just went off the blood tests).

My step sister gave birth three weeks ago to my beautiful neice who was conceived through artificial insemination.

However a week before giving birth they found out that the clinic had used the incorrect donor sperm. Of course it made no difference to how they feel about their child but they were pretty distraught. My advice is to double check, even triple check the donor code to make sure it is the right one.

My DS was conceived after 1 round of IUI. My DD took 3 rounds of IUI (over the course of 8 months), now I'm TTC #3 and have had 3 unsuccessful attempts #3 was cancelled because of to many follicles growing, so now am waiting (and waiting) for AF to try again.

Thanks ladies for all your replies, im not having any hormone shots, but the last three months having been using a fertility medication similar to clomid!! Looks like monday/tuesday is going to be ovulation day!! Hopefully we only have to go through a round or two of this as i dont really want to go thru IVF!!

A quick question for those who have been through IUI before...did you have to take progesterone? And if you did, did you have any side effects from it?

I feel horrible today, really feeling like I need to be sick, bloated, a horrible taste in my mouth and so tired. Really hungry today too. Kind of like I felt when I had my last BFP but I know its far too early to know yet.

Any ideas? My only thought is it's the progesterone trigger shot that he gave me which he said would give me a positive pregnancy result if I tested so maybe with the hormones running through my system its making my body think I am pregnant...(secretly hoping that it is just because I am pregnant though)

Sounds pretty positive though!! Do you think pregnancy symptons might kick in earlier, as its inserted further in you, rather than the sperm having swim up etc??

A friend of mine took donations off another friend of mine and fell the first month. Not clinically done so I'd say your chances are much are higher than hers smile

A good friend of mine had 6 m/c a then tried A.I. She got pregnant first go and had a little boy 2 weeks ago smile

How exciting for you! You have been on such a ttc journey. I have everything crossed for you.

So I am on day 2 of hormone injections. What side effects did you, if any, experience?
I am a little nervous and excited but not expecting a miracle first time.

I had a positive ovulation test this tonight so im off to the specialist tomorrow for my AI!!! - i have to use the pee sticks as my FS dosent want my to come down from the country every day for blood tests!!

Did another test tonight..still a very faint line and I think it's certainly fainter than yesterdays. In saying that I haven't tested with first morning urine with either of the tests.

Am thinking though that it's definately just the trigger shot leaving my body but hopefully by the end of next week there will be another two lines and that they will be my BFP.

I had my insemination done today!! So officially im in the two week wait!! Bring on the next 14 days!!

I finally got a rise in my temperature today..not a huge one but a rise non the less...hoping that it's a good sign and that it continues to rise.

Im feeling ok!! Have done a test already!! Haha!! Obviously it came up negative!!

GOT MY BFP!!! Im still in shock..its still faint but certainly two lines!

Going to test again on Monday morning and then call FS to get bloods organised to confirm and check progesterone levels.

Hopefully the fact that I've been taking progesterone since the insemination will mean a sticky baby.
