TTC plans put off?? Rss

DH & I started officially TTC in December 2011. We have recently found out that DH's cousin is engaged that they have planned to get married on 9th November. I'm also in the Public Service and am about to go through an interview process to make my job permanent. I will still get maternity leave if I fall pregnant now.

DH & I discussed waiting for a month or two until my job is settled but I decided that this would be the perfect distraction from the TWW so I don't put too much pressure on myself. We also thought that the wedding will be at a very unknown time because either I could be heavily pregnant and unable to travel or have a brand new bub only a couple of weeks old. But we would have to put it off for about another 3 cycles. We have decided that we won't wait because we don't know how long it will take and we really want to start a family.

My question is has anyone else put off their TTC plans for anything? Do you think DH & I should put our plans off for a couple of cycles?

Would love to hear everyones thoughts on this smile
I personally wouldn't stop TTC for anything. TTC is such a hit nd miss each month nd I wouldn't want to think I had "wasted" a cycle or 2. I would rather keep trying nd wot will b will b. But it really comes down to a personal choice sweetie.

Good luck on ur job placement as well honi

Sry I wasn't much help lol

I currently have mine somewhat on hold as I am having to undergo a laparoscopy. If your young then it should be ok for a few months anyway. remember that life is complicated no matter what way you choose.
I guess it depends how soon you want a baby, keep in mind it could take 12 months or more but at the same time could happen the first month. If your job is important to you I can't see a problem with skipping a few months but I wouldn't put it off for a wedding but thats just me. Good luck with whatever you decide smile

i personally wouldn't put off ttc for someones wedding but i have for work before!

i had to be in my job a year before mat leave was an option...i had been there 4 months but felt more comfortable waiting till i had been there 6months. we were set to start ttc in december 2010 and then dh excepted a job offer that required us to move cities....i could transfer with my job (thank god) but we wanted to put off ttc till we were settled in our new place so then in may 2011 we started ttc again and fell first month!!

our gorgeous boy was born last week smile

Thanks tands, Good luck with the laparoscopy! I had one of those about 2 years ago and was the first time I had gone under. I ended up so naucous (grr I can't think of how to spell that lol) from the anasthetic so at least I'll know for next time if I ever need to go under again but I wasn't too excited afterwards when the air from when they blew me up was still trying to leave my body sad FX you get a positive result from it though! Sending lots of baby dust your way! X

Ha ha I want a baby now grin DH & I have been having unprotected sex since we got married but we were careful when I thought I was fertile that was for 12 months and nothing happened. My GP knows about that and we have been officailly TTC since December and my GP said that if i'm not pregnant after 6 cycles that I should go and see her. I'm not leaving anything to chance. If I need tests I would rather get them over and done with early so that if there are problems I won't have wasted precious time on being scared of the results. Yea the wedding I definately would not put it off for! smile

I agree, we've struggled to get pregnant, and we didn't let anything put us off. But it's really up to the individual. My hubby gave up his gymnastics Olympic trials for Beijing Olympics to stay in the country and continue trying. We now have a 4 yr old and when she turned 1 we started trying for another, we are finally 6 months pregnant now, so 3 years of trying.

Good luck for the next 3 to 4 months!
For me i wouldn't put it off & hubby would never ask me too unless it was something he strongly believed we should do.

I think at the end of the day it's up to you & your DH.

Good luck with your job.

we haven't started trying yet, but will start on number 2 soon, however if I'm not pregnant by June then we'll wait 2 months as I've got a friend who is thinking about getting married in Raro next year and I would be either heavily pregnant or very new bubs, and I'd be a bridesmaid, thats our only reason. If she was to get married over here then it wouldn't bother me but I think international travel at either of those stages would be awful.
But apart from that no nothing would stop us.

Thanks, DH & I did discuss it but I was the one who brought it up not him smile

Good luck with your TTC journey smile
I've been wondering the same thing. I am bridesmaid in a wedding next year which was meant to be in Feb 2013 but on the weekend I saw my friend who is the bride and she said they were thinking of changing it to sept October 2013! I don't want her to know we are TTC but I just want the damn thing set in stone so I can plan my bub! I was going to work around her wedding but now I don't know if I will. I might just keep TTC and if it happens then it happens.. It's a hard one though! Good luck and fx you'll fall preg soon

Thanks, you too! Sending lots of Baby Dust your way!
We were going to take this next couple of cycles off to lose some weight etc but then my cycles got all screwed up and have come to the conclusion that we don't know how long it might take to get our BFP so really don't wanna miss any cycles so have decided I can do both and just be extra healthy without the crazy diet pills smile

I think for me even if I said we were gonna take some time out from TTC I would still be secretly thinking about it etc lol (If that makes sense)

Sorry that doesn't really help any lol :s

Well eating healthy is better than diets anyway smile

When DH & I were trying but not trying I would obsess every cycle!! So I know exactly how you feel smile DH got really annoyed and would say to me but we arn't even trying....
I have just put off TTC No 3 for three months to get my uterus healthier lol! Sounds crazy I know, but want to give myself the best chance of holding onto my next pregnancy. Time is actually going quite quickly and it's really nice thinking about the future and slowing things down a bit. Particularly seeing as though it will most likely be our last baby, I just want to enjoy it all and not be in a big rush. We'd planned our whole year around the babies that we just lost and now we're just going with whatever happens. Thinking I might even wait four months now!
LOL... I don't think I could put TTC off for anything.. We have been trying for a while now & I think if we have to stop for a month I would be thinking the whole time "what if that was my month" haha..

Do what ever is best for you, your friends and family would be supportive!!

FX for you hun!..
After falling pregnant and finding out it was an ectopic pregnancy requiring surgery and loss of my left tube we decided to put off TTC. Hardest thing ive been through when all you can think is babies! We decided we would wait until we officially get married even though we have been together 7 years. It took me a while to come to terms with the waiting part but thankfully I have had the wedding plans to distract me. Our thoughts that bought us to our decision were.....we didnt think we would have time or money after a child to plan a wedding, I wanted to lose some weight and get healthier for the prep of planning pregnancy etc and also to recover emotionally from our loss. The wedding is now two months away and we cant wait to TTC again.

I agree that there is no right time to TTC and I now worry how long it will take us to fall pregnant with only one tube so I have come to the conclusion that if I could have gone back in time I would have planned the wedding first then focused on TTC even if I had suffered an ectopic at least we could have tried straight away after this.

Good Luck with what ever decision you come too xx
I wouldn't put TTC on hold for anything.
It took such a long time for me to fall pregnant with this bub. If I had put it off one month I would have always wondered if that would have been the month and I missed it by choice. I couldn't live with the self-questioning. Someone else's wedding is about them, not you!

Good luck with your job smile

I was planning to put TTC on hold for my brothers wedding but when it came down to it I could stop.
We are still TTC now I'm glad we didn't stop. There was 2 months that we tryed to not count days and just take it as it comes. I always know when I O so decided to do the baby dance because it felt right.
