Body Basal Temperature Rss

Hi Ladies,

I have decided to start charting my bbt this month but im not really sure on all the details. So what i hear is that i am supposed to take my temp every morning before i get out of bed, after ovulation the temp should rise?? and if it doesnt go back down after ovulation then i could be pregnant? correct me if im wrong. also what is average for temps before during and after ovulation? I am on my 2nd day of AF,I checked my temp thismorning and it was 36.6

Thankyou so much. xo
i havent done it for over a year but from what i remember is that the average temp was about 36.5-36.7, and when i fell pregnant with DD i never had a rise (i think it was because the egg was fertilised before O) because girls are generally concieved 2-3 days before ovulation. but this was my findings im not sure everyone will be the same.

if u google search fertility friend, its a program on the web kinda like huggies and you input your temp for the day and it will tell u expected O, AF and likeliness you are pregnant for that cycle. it helped me out heaps because i wasnt sure either.its worth a look.

good luck on ttc

Fertility friend is awesome for learning all about charting for free. I used it a lot and found it great. They even have tutorials for starting out.

In answer to your Q, your BBT should dip before you ovulate and rise immediately after. It will then stay high til AF arrives. Some charts show another rise in BBT (called a triphasic chart) and this CAN (but doesn't always) happen after implantation and can be a sign of pregnancy. That said- a 2nd temp rise doesn't guarantee a BFP and if you don't get your 2nd rise you can still get your BFP!

Hope that helps a little!
There are a few things to remember with taking your BBT.
First, you need to take it every day at the same time, even when you've got AF. You need to take your temp before you get out of bed, before you go to the toilet, before you do anything!! As in roll over to switch off the alarm clock and in the same motion, reach for that thermometer!!
Second, it's more accurate to take your temp vaginally, but I always took it orally)
A very helpful website is fertilityfriend.com All you need to do is put your data every day and it will tell you when you've O'd and when to test, and once you've been temping for a whole month, it will help to predict when you will O next month. There's also a great "charting course" in the website that will answer every question you could possibly have smile

Your temp will go up and down a little bit before you O, but once you O it will go up and stay up, until it drops when you get AF, or goes even higher when you get your BFP

Good luck smile
