Anyone had big babies that suprise their ob/gyn or midwife - risks of having subsequent Rss

Hi Ladies,

So I had my second baby about 3 months ago. My DS was a big suprise to my midwife weighing 5.41kg delivered naturally, 12 days overdue needed to be induced. I did have a growth scan at 33 weeks that estimated my son would be about 4.5kg at my due date. My diabetes test was fine also. They think that either i got gestational diabetes after this test or that genetically he was just meant to be big. But they couldnt tell me which one.
My first child was 3.3kg with a different person.
So lately I have been thinking if some time down the track if I would like to have another baby. Im totally scarred right now from the birth of my son it was quite traumatic for me - he wasnt crying or breathing when he came out. But if i do decide to have another one and really want to and find out that its not possible or not advisable. I want to be prepared.

So I want to ask the other ladies out their who have delivered bigger babies than expected if they have had any more after and if I am a high risk now? if their babies just got bigger ? because i dont think my body could handle bigger but I am actually suprised that i deilivered an almost 5.5kg baby.
Any info would be appreciated
Hi, my first DS was 5.2 kg and my 2nd and 3rd DS's were 4.5kg then 4.2 kg ( I also have 3 gorls but they all weighed 3.89kg), so mine all got smaller, the funny thing is i found it easier to birth the bigger baby and had the most damage with the smaller one

so they didnt advise against having anymore? did they giv u a reason why ur first was 5.2kg?
My DS was a big boy born too 4.735kg (10p7oz), so not as big as yours but still up there and the docs and midwives were all sure I must have had GD but my test was fine and I had no problems through my pregnacy. But I blame it on the cream donuts I consumed in the last few weeks! tongue
He was 2 weeks overdue and I had to also got induced. I think that if he come on time he wouldn't have been so big (because of the cream donuts!). The midwife said to me too that I better watch out next time as they usually get bigger!
But my sister has 3 kids and her first was the biggest and then they got smaller so I'm not sure I beleive that statement somehow smile

I can't speak for anyone else obviously but mine have gotten bigger each time - and no gestational diabetes even though they test me over and over each pregnancy!! I didn't start out with a baby that big though! You poor thing! I was 5.2 kg when I was born and my mother had 5 children all well above 9 pounds. My 3rd was 10 pound 4 (I am 160 cm tall and prepregnancy I weighed 55gk) and his shoulders got stuck and now I'm 29 weeks and have been told after an US this week that this baby is at the 98th percentile and already weighs over 3 pounds...I am very scared! I didn't overeat at all in the 3rd trimester with my first 3 - I was too big and there was no room for food in my stomach - I've just been told it's genetic and there's nothing I can do.
You just need (as I do) to get baby out well before they are overdue - I am hoping to be induced at 39 weeks this time. I don't want an induction, but neither do I want something to go wrong because I can't push this one out. It shouldn't mean that you cant have any more though.

I went on to have 4 more, but no reason was given for his size. I didnt have diabetes but they tested him when he was born, but he didnt have it either. he's now 14 and over 6 foot tall and over 70 kg so just genetics I guess from DH becasue i was only 48kg pre preg with him
