Itchy belly! Rss

i was just wondering if anyone could tell me a cream or lotion that could ease the itch of growing tummy skin?? Im using bio oil for stretch marks, but it doesnt ease the itch at all.
Can any one help?

thanks!
hey there

congratulations on your pregnancy! I have also had a very itchy tummy and skin all through my pregnancy (i'm 35 weeks now).
I find the best thing to do is use a natural skin care product as bio oil does have perfumes in it and may be irritating the skin. I would recommend using a calendula cream as it's very soothing, you can probably get it from a health store. Hope this helps.
all the best

not sure if it will work but it seems to help me, Organics Cocoa Butter Massage Cream for Stretch Marks.
The tube doesn't say it stops itching but it worked for me.

Also when I went to buy Bio Oil the lady in the pharmacy mentioned that the product isn't good to use during pregnancy (something to do with an excessive amount of one of the ingredients), I'm not sure how true this is but the product I mentioned above was what I was shown instead and it has been working great, while also being cheaper.
Hi, I used and swear by a product from Mary Kay Cosmetics called Timewise visible fit body lotion. it helps stretch marks and soothed and stopped the itch - it moisturises for at least 10 hrs - has a very light fragrance from the witchhazel or something in it - whatever it is it works for me - $45 a bottle - lasts me 18 mths using it every day on all my bits n pieces (all my skin is very dry and itchy when I'm pregnant). It has been an absolute godsend and I've put all of my pregnant friends and their friends and their friends etc onto it and they love it too. (some are not convinced on the price - til they try mine for a day or two and then they can't wait to get it if thats any reassurance!) If you want I can get my consultant to get you one or just ring the number in the phone book.

HI i think making sure it is always moisturised is best

don't use soap in shower/bath find a soap free supstitute like sorbolene body wash (redwin makes a good one or QV or Alpha keri)
I am 30 wks and with this heat got a heat rash best thing was Alpha keri oil I put it on a damp cloth and smeared over the belly staright after a shower - u can have a bath with it but makes the bath very oily!!
other than this I use plain sorbolene or vit E cream in the morning and still use Bio oil at night

the QV and apha keri r expensive but you can use it to bath the baby when it comes too!

hope it helps
The Body Shop body butter is brilliant! Works everytime but u should use it whenever u feel the need even if that's a few times a day but always after a bath! I was massive with my first who is now two and i dont have a single stretch mark i swear by it. good luck smile
i just use good old vitman e cream cost me $3 at supermarket i just slap it on

Thanks everyone for the advice!smile
the itchyness just went away after a few days, I must have had a big tummy growth spurt at that particular time.
Do bio oil or any stretch mark preventing creams actually work? or does it jsut depend on the skin type? if your gunna get them your gunna get them??
unfortunatly if you are going to get them you are! If you already have them in another area it is a pretty good sign that you will get them on your belly. That is what my OB told me with my first pregnancy. But keep using the bio oil, I would swear by it to help reduce the red look of stretch marks after my 2nd pregnancy.

Good luck!

i think your genetics play part does mum or sister have them?
I have some on back (sides) from rapid wieght loss years ago but bio oil/sorbolene heaps and didn't get any with first preg, 5 weeks to go this time and still no evidence of any again - cross fingers
I had a really itchy tummy towards the end of my pregnancy.
I used palmers coca butter formula for dry and itchy skin. It worked a treat and as soon as i put it on the itching stopped.
It's an oil in a spray bottle.
