Risk involved with dental work while pregnant Rss

Hey so i need a tooth reconstructed as its cracked but thats not the one giving me issues at the moment and they've said they will need to wait until the end of the pregnancy to fix this one but....

On the other side of my mouth i have a upper wisdom tooth giving me hell and a filling required and have had a headache for 3 days and a constant dull ache in the left side of my mouth and more sensitive to cold etc and my tongue touching them. So im thinking about telling the dentist to fix the filling and rip the tooth out, but my mouth would obviously need to be numb and hopefully they wouldnt need to do the major xray, but what is the risk of the xray and numbing?

Does any of this make sense? Lack of sleep, splitting headache and a cat that is seriously on my nerves is not helping me at all!
I would definetely advise against getting an X-ray while pregnant. When I was pregnant with my first I was completely clueless and my GP or OB did not tell me Anything about what not to do whilst pregnant. I got an X-ray on my wisdom teeth at 4 months preg and passed out soon afterwards. Bub and I were ok but I was only told after that you are not meant to have an X-ray whilst pregnant. Definetely speak to your GP though if it's really painful. Good luck

I was told that you could have dental work done as long has you where over 3 months. I never had to get xray done while i was pregnant. I actually didn't want to go to the denist while pregnant. I may have vomited if the denist put anything in my mouth.

Hi- you poor thing, it's so painful hey??

I am 34 weeks pregnant and have done four visits over the last 6 weeks (and have one to go at 36 weeks). I was thinking the same as but the pain got so bad I could not wait sad

The dentist assured me it's fine - I had X-rays (but they put a metal vest on me and tummy) and when I asked him to knock me out (lol) he said normally he would but as I'm pregnant, they just numb the gums - which did the job as I didn't feel much and I had a full on root canal, clean out, filling and got measured up for a crown.

Could you call the midwives and see what they say about dental care while pregnant? My dentist said there was no problems at all to do it as he knew I was scared about my baby- I really don't think he did anything he shouldn't have for fear of a lawsuit tongue

Hi passing out would be awful sad

The only thing I nearly passed out from was the price!!! gasp

It was horrible especially because I found out after I'd passed out that I wasn't meant to get an X-ray whilst pregnant or at least wear protective gear like you did.
Yep, the price was so bad. I wasn't expecting it to be so high and didn't actually have enough money to pay for it when I was leaving unsure

That's awful, what were they thinking?! Ah the price, I have no idea how they can justify it!!

Thanks, think I will call my midwife Monday and speak to the dentist again. I think it's just feels so bad cos I'm aware of it, where as if I wasn't pregnant I would have got it fixed straight away. The price is enough to hurt you all over again and they wonder why people don't like going to the dentist!
Your dentist should know if it's safe. I had a wisdom tooth out when I was around 30 weeks pregnant. I didn't have an x-ray though, it came up out if the blue impacted and infected. I had panadine forte for the pain and a tiny amount of local to get it out. Antibiotics afterwards and just panadol. It was fine and I had no pregnancy complications at all.

I had a filling fall out when I was 6 weeks pregnant. My dentist wont touch me until I have bub,so another 13 weeks or so until I get it refilled.. xrays arent safe and apparently the stuff they do to numb your mouth to do any work is not safe for a pregnant women either..
I hope your pain eases up a bit xx
I just had my wisdom tooth taken out with no problems actually i think i healed faster then when i wasent pregnant and had to take one out!

Im 9weeks and had a wisdom tooth out two days ago. I had xrays they put a lead vest on me and lowered the radiation, and they numbed my gum. Everything went well only thing is pain relief afterwards.
