eat a lot of garlic and onion. If you can stomach it eat some raw garlic like a capsule.
my fav tea to make for colds is boiling water over a big piece of ginger, slice of lemon, a big dollop of honey, about 1-2 tablespoons of good apple cider vinegar and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper. It will clear your sinuses in about 3 seconds.
If you start eating heaps of garlic from when the first symptoms appear, it can make a world of difference.
french onion soup is great. (fry up heaps of onion in butter and olive oil and bacon. once transparent or lightly caramalised add a heap of beef stock. let it cook until onion is melt in your mouth soft. 1L of stock would be for about 10 average sized onions. serve with parsely and croutons with grilled cheese on them.)
or chicken noodle soup. fry up a ginger and onion, pour in a litre of chook stock, (get something like the real chook stock or the consumme) add shredded cooked chicken breast, (buy a roast chook from the supermarket if too sick to cook), add a can of corn, (drain first) add a bundle of japanese noodles like udon, or ramen. (asian section about $3 for a pack of 3 bundles.) Add bean sprouts if you like or coriander or both to serve.
