Progesterone Pessaries Rss

Hi,
I'm using Progesterone pessaries due to an incompetent cervix. The doctors have informed me that I will no longer need to use them after 34 weeks which is in a weeks time. I want to hear from any other mums using them or have had to use them during their pregnancy & would like to know when you stopped using them & how long after stopping them did your baby come?

Hi ive also used Progesterone pessaries, didnt know i had a incompetent cervix til afer i lost my second baby. I didnt get to stop i went into labour nearly 21wks and Jordan was born and died half an hour later. For my next pregnancy i have to take this again so im glad to hear that you have gone on to 34wks, thanks that has helped me alot. Did u have to have a sticth as well ?
But im afraid i havent helped you, sorry. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy
Hi tasmum,
Sorry to hear you lost Jordan at 21 weeks sad That would have been heartbreaking. Do you have an imcompetent cervix due to anything that you know of? How many weeks pregnant are you? Do you have a stitch?
No I don't have a stitch in as my cervix started rapidly shortening at 20 weeks, last measurement at 28 weeks was 5mm so hardly anything there. The doctors are not even certain that the reason I am still pregnant is because of the pessaries. Will be interesting to see what happens when I stop using them.

Yes i had a septum in my uterus which was dividing it into two. Ive had surgery to remove the septum. Im not pregnant at the moment were going to try again sometime soon this year. I do have to have a stitch in next time (around 12wks pregnant) and will also need pessaries as well. Wow ur are soo lucky, i had a shorten cervix about the same as u do now when i was 18wks pregnant. Ive lost two babies due to this, i didnt know this at the time but i wasnt as far as u in ur pregnancy. Lost my first baby jacob at nealry 22 wks.

Do wish u all the best xxx
Hi

I'm sorry about your babies.

I had progesterone pessaries among other things from 4 - 12 weeks due to an unstable pregnancy. I did however have a healthy baby and haven't needed them for my subsequent pregnancies.

I had DS via an emergency c-section at full term.

Goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy.

Tasmum - Sorry I read your post wrong! Baby brain is in full swing these days lol! I'm glad I have given you some hope & I wish you all the best for your next pregnancy! I have been in hospital a few times this pregnancy with TPL & there were a few other ladies in hossy who were ahead of me & still pregnant. They all had the stitch & were on progesterone & rest. Good luck!

Hi bubbaJ - Thank you for that. I have a funny feeling that I will make it full term, to go through all this stress & have to be induced! It would be very ironic. It shall be intersting to see what happens after next weekend....

Hi there if you click HERE you will find the OP's birth announcement, I hope that helps!
LOL! Thanks Jess you bet me to it!!

Accdaniels - As you will probably read I made it to 35 weeks & the doctors still can't tell me if the progesterone was the reason why. Anyway read my story, I must warn you though it is very long! If you have anymore questions I am more then happy for you to PM me smile
Just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful story! I had my son at 34 weeks, and I find it very encouraging to read other peoples journeys and birth stories. Best of wishes to you and your little girl.

Aww no worries smile I found it very therapeutic to write it all out. After reading it back to myself I was even impressed with the journey lol! How old is your DS now?
Hi there,
I just wanted to say Hi to tasmum as I read your post and almost cried, my heart goes out for you sweety. Wow what a lot you have been through, I can relate on the uterus side as I have a completely separate uterus (uterus didelphys)with almost 2 cervixes the septum comes all the way down ... I have had 1 live birth my son came early at 27 weeks and through lots of prayers he is now a very busy 5 year old!!
However I am now 20 weeks pregnant again! YES again! After several miscarriages we finally were successful (baby implanted in right horn) I had had a stitch (2 actually) at 15 weeks and now I am on 200mg of Progesterone ... so I can be your guinea pig LOL smile
DON'T give up hope hun, and PUSH PUSH PUSH for a HIGH risk OB/Maternal Fetal Specialist not just any old OB.
PM me if you want to chat & ask questions x Hang in there
Hiya, i am also using progesterone pessaries 200, i started using them at 20 weeks , due to an incomp cervix from previous surgery , i am now measuring 2.1 i was previously 4cm , and they say that i will be on the progesterone until 34 weeks, although the specialists think i will be preterm , having ultra sounds and hospital visits every single week, it is so draining and stressful, at the moment i am praying to get to 28 weeks, as they say if labour comes it is a higher chance of survival for bub, as each week seems to come it seems to be going so sloooooow. It gives me hope to know that some of you lovely ladies have gone full term or close to ,using the progesterone, did any of you suffer from any side affects , like contractions /cramping (mild)? I have had 2 previous pregnancies that were so good, no morning sickness nothing, i have 2 girls. This time round we are expecting a boy, so my fingers are tightly crossed that the progesterone works.... it is still undecided with the stitch, as they say that the stitch and the progesterone are as good as each other, and that the stitch could be more trouble than it is worth... but then i have heard so much good about the stitch , the mind boggles.............
Hi there
I am currently 10 weeks pregnant, and have been on 200mg progeterone pessaries twice daily for the last 2 weeks, to support falling progesterone levels. Last blood test, progesterone levels were coming up nicely smile . This is my 5th pregnancy, 1st ended at 12 weeks, m/c, next was my two little miracles my twins as a result of IVF who are now 3 years old. My next two pregnancies also ended in m/c both at around 9 weeks. Really hoping to hang on to this one, can't cope with more loss right now. Going to see specialist tomorrow, hoping for good news. Fingers crossed.
