No longer have the ability to cook or drive Rss

Since being pregnant I have lost all ability to cook a good meal and drive a vehicle.
I find it very frustrating because I am normally a good cook (so my family and friends say). but since becoming pregnant my husband no longer comments on my meals and when I ask for his comments he says "It's not the nicest". I have managed to make only disasters in the kitchen for the last 8 months and it's really getting to me!
Also I have since had 2 small car incidents (no one has been hurt!) and I get so upset because I would like to think I'm usually a good driver! I am at the point now where I am affraid to get behind the wheel so I only drive when completely necessary.

Has anyone else had these skills disappear overnight?
Do these skills come back once pregnancy is over???
It's so frustrating having lost my abilities!! I hope I'm not alone here...
Baby Brainitis is a fairly common complaint amongst the women on here. Some of the most common symptoms are the loss of brain cells leading to the vagueness when driving, the loss of basic co-ordination also leading to bad driving. Also the loss of taste buds leading to nasty cooking.

Everything I eat at the moment tastes strong and salty, so everything I cook is bland as a result. Or the old vague brain means I leave out a vital ingredient, or forget I put it in the oven! Even the dog didn't want to finish the chow mien I made last week.

The cure for baby brainitis is to give birth to a beautiful baby, and make it through the first few sleep deprived months. Then you will be fine.
I hear you luv!!

I'm a teacher and whenever I'm preggers I get serious baby brain when I'm teaching. Can be in the middle of a sentence and forget what I'm talking about!

Yesterday I left my wallet on the counter at Big W then went shopping at coles, not noticing until I couldn't find my wallet to pay. Luckily it was still at big W!

Yes, your brain will come back, but not for a while after bubs is born!!

I found my some underwear in the fridge this morning. How random am I sometimes?
HAHA! Thanks ladies, Your comments made me laugh and smile:) It's just nice to know that I am not alone!
I also cooked chow mein last night and my male dog just sniffed it and walked away, my little girl dog was kind enough to endure some of it for me lol
You are completely normal in my books!!!

I consider myself a pretty good cook too but Im sure I cooked my DH eggs on toast more than a proper meal for most of my pregnancies!!! laugh

And as for the driving, Ive turned into a terrible driver lately (and I always thought I was good!) Just made my second insurance claim in 6 months the other day!!! Both times it was really dumb things I could have done!

On a brighter note my cooking has got back to its usual standard (most of the time providing I dont get too sleep deprived wink )
My cooking has suffered, i usually make a mean spag bol. Lately it just hasn't tasted right. I'm putting all the same ingredients in but somethings not right. I parked my car at the shops the other day, got out and saw just how bad the parking was lol

No one tells you all the fun things about pregnancy lol
I don't know if the lost skills come back, but the same thing has happened to me.

My brain started to dribble out of my ears at five months. I was clearing the table, I had two things in my hands, one for the bin, one for the fridge. You know what happened. Then I went to put the mustard away, picked it up, walked with it to the kitchen, then returned and put it back on the table.

I only realised what I'd done when I went to the fridge later and found a plastic bag of kitchen scraps on the top shelf.

At around the same time, I found that I couldn't spell or write a proper sentence without really thinking about it and rereading a couple of times (which I'm doing right now). I realised this after sending an email to a client saying 'I red through the document' and generally mangled everything else I tried to say. Might not sound like a big deal, but I was telling them that their grammar and spelling needed work and that they should pay me to fix it up. *Face palm*.

I think they should warn us when we start planning to get pregnant, or at least in the early months, that pregnancy takes over your mind as well as your body!
