Hi,

I had my 20 week scan today and found out that my baby girl's stomach is on the wrong side and that her kidneys are slightly enlarged. All of her other organs are fine and 100%.

Has anyone had this happen to them and can you let me know how it turned out? This is my second baby (my first girl) and understandably I'm quite worried. I have an appointment with my GP in a couple of days (don't know if I can wait that long).

Any info. would be appreciated.

Is it possible that your baby has all her organs on the wrong side? There is a condition called situs inversus in which this is the case. It doesn't cause any problems, it's just a really cool party trick when they visit the doctor or have an xray. laugh To the best of my knowledge, there can be a problem if the heart is on the correct side but other organs are reversed, but this is to do with anatomy - the great vessels can be oriented incorrectly. The sonographer will have checked for this though. As long as the heart is structurally normal, everything is ok.
