Is this normal. ???????
hey hun

i'm not going to tell you it's normal but a lot of women loose weight in the first weeks of pregnancy due to morning sickness and not eating as much or getting sick. so if that is your case, i wouldn't worry too much.

if you were eating fine and no throwing up yes I would be a bit concerned but hey, if you are then ask your doctor. didn't he/she mention something at your appointment today?

My sister, lost weight nearly her entire pregnancy due to excessive morning sickness, or in her case was all day sickness and all 3 of her babies came out a perfect size and weight! Sometimes its very common to loose weight in the first trimester if you are turned off food or have morning sickness!! But if your growing in belly size as in you can see a bump coming along, then i am sure it would be fine! You can always check at your midwife appointment! Did you have a dating scan?? Cause sometimes that helps know that they are growing ok!!

Congrats on entering the second trimester!! Hopefull the feeling wonderful starts soon for you !

I always loose weight in pregnancy. Admittedly I have it to loose. DD I started at about 92kg and lost 10kg from when I found out I was pregnant to the start of the 3rd trimester then my weight plateaued because what I was loosing from "me" was balanced by the weight I was gaining with DD. After having DD I ended up at 70kg.

With DS it was very similar again - I started at 95kg, lost 10kg through the pregnancy and then lost another 5kg when I had him to end at 80kg.

I was diagnosed with GD at 32 weeks with DD and 12 weeks with DS. My Drs told me that with GD you tend to lose weight because you have to be so much more careful about what your eating and portion control etc so that may explain some of your weight loss. You've also had a fair amount of stressful things happening in your life over the last couple of weeks which may be contributing to the loss of appetite/weight loss too. Obviously its not "ideal" to be losing weight when pregnant but, so long as you are eating properly and healthily and not actively dieting it shouldn't be a huge concern. Like always though, if you're really worried about it, talk to your dr about it or the diabetic educator/dietician that you are probably seeing for the GD.

Hope that helps.

Leisa.

Firstly, congrats on reaching your second trimester. It's a very exciting point in your pregnancy.

I too have been losing weight through my entire pregnancy even though I barely had morning sickness and that went away at around 11 weeks. I am currently 31 weeks and still 4kgs lighter than I was before I got pregnant. Bubs is growing healthy and normal so the doctors are not concerned so neither am I. I too have GD so I think the diet changes maybe an influence in the weight loss as well. I think you and bubs would be fine unless your doctor indicates otherwise. I think I read in one of your previous posts you are under quite a bit of pressure too so that could contribute to your weight loss. Just remember the baby will always take what it needs from you first so make sure you keep up your vitamins for your own self as well. Hoping you have a healthy 2nd trimester too:-)

My first pregnancy I lost weight in the 1st trimester and didnt get to my pre-pregnancy weight till around 25wks. (No GD and no morning sickness either).

This pregnancy I lost weight again in the first trimester. Although I've made up for it now! At 23 wks I'm almost 2kg heavier than my pre-preg weight so taking into account my initial loss I've gained around 6kgs in 6wks! I really must stop baking, at this rate my @rse will have its own postcode by the time DD2 arrives!

People who live in glass houses.....shouldn't walk around naked!

I've been losing weight since I fell pregnant, and I haven't had MS. I've lost 4kg so far... somehow??

I lost just over 10kgs in my first trimester (had hypermesis )
just talk to your Dr about it, if you've got the weight to loose (not saying you do just people general) then it probably won't matter too much, but for me I got to almost under 50kgs so it mattered a bit.

Thanks ladies

It could be because of my strict diet & yes pressure I'm under might be apart of it. Along with loss of appetite

When I'm hungry I reach for fruit & huge bottle of water
Or cuppa & wheat meal biscuits.

If I eat a meal its small serve.

No take away at all.
No fizzy drink
or. Juice of any kind

Used have 2 teaspoon of sugar in coffee now I only have 1/2 teaspoon.
My bubby growing well that's. What counts

Lost 3 kilos in. Less a month.
Hi,

I lost 9 kg during my last trimester (when I had GD) and then dropped another few after birth. My doctor said it was ok, and just due to the fact that I was eating only good foods. Are you feeling good on the diet? I found that being on the diet helped me have more energy and I felt really good throughout the last trimester.

Your Weightloss is probably just your diet coupled with the fact that your body is expending more energy growing bubs. I lost about 10kg when pregnant with DS1 but it was weight I could afford to lose.

Weightloss is also a symptom of diabetes so you might find that it slows down once you are started on insulin.

Either way health care professionals do not worry about wieghtloss during pregnancy unless it is extreme or you are already a little too thin to start with so I wouldn''t worry too much just bring it up at your next check up.
