ECV

Hi ladies, I am currently 32 weeks pregnant and bubs is breech. He started off transverse and shifted to breech and hasn't moved. I know he still has some time left to turn however I think if he hasn't shifted for the last 12 weeks why would he now. My doctor is talking of the possibility of attempting to turn him however from what I have read this is rarely successful and can be painful. My question is has anyone had this done and if so did it work or did bubs move back to breech? Also was it painful? I have an ultrasound Monday to also check my placenta location as it was borderline low (25mm) but they were certain that would move up as my pregnancy advanced could this be why he is breech? I have no advice for you, but wanted to share that my bub turned at about 36/37 weeks after being breech or transverse most of my pregnancy So, i guess there is still a little hope yet. It was aweful & painful & i vomited up everywhere & i thought that i was actually going into labor! I can only imagine that manual turning of baby would be just as painful.

My second bub was breech right up until 36 weeks. He turned on his own, and was born a week later, so he really left it until the last minute lol.

I'm sorry I can't be much help with your questions, I just wanted to say that sometimes they do turn on their own quite late. Hopefully this will happen for you!

A good friend of mines bub was breech. She had a ECV done at around 36/37wks. It worked and he was head down and had a perfect natural birth. I asked her if it hurt and she said no just felt like a normal examination by the midwife and was over in seconds. So I guess everyone is different and the experience of the person doing it would make a lot of difference. But she would do it again if needed. Good luck with the decision. smile

My first baby was tranverse and I had an ECV done at 38 weeks. It was uncomfortable and I felt sore for a day or two afterwards. But it wasn't terrible. Unfortunately I got up the next morning only to realise that the little devil had flipped straight back into transverse position in the night!

I had accupunture over the next couple of weeks and sure enough the minute I went into labour she flipped up and I delivered her naturally. I have also heard good reports about chiropractors that specialise in pregnancy helping with breach babies. Good Luck!

My youngest dd was in position until my 38week appointment n she turned! Next day was scheduled for ecv. They had to tilt the bed (head lower than my body ) then pushed placenta out of my pelvis . It took two attempts to turn her , the first lady covered my tummy with lubricant (one used for ultrasound ) and pushed so hard n tried to turn but didn't work . it honestly felt like someone giving my tummy a red skin was so painful. The next attempt a male doctor came and removed lubricant and quickly rotated her , I was sore for a few days but was happy didn't have to hav c sec I was monitored for few hours after ecv & next two days before I gave birth to my dd at 39 weeks smile
