40 weeks today!

Well, i've reached the 40 week mark today (yay) and still no baby... Lol.

I had my doctors appointment this morning and she was going to do a stretch and sweep to try and kick start labour...however, my cervix is still closed so she couldn't do anything. She also said "bub is way too comfortable" in there! I have another appointment booked for next week which I am hoping I won't have to attend (by that stage I would have HOPED bub would have arrived). I know people generally go over with their first baby but argh! I'm feeling a little sad that nothing is progressing as I really don't want to be induced. Did anybody else experience the same thing? If so, when did you go into labour?

Same thing happened to me. Then 5 nights after my due date I started getting contactions in the middle of the night. Up until then I thought I would be pregnant forever!! My DD was born 1 week overdue.

I know what you are feeling. I ended up induced at 2 weeks overdue because they only would let me go that far. I know thats no help. But just be prepared for it! Good luck and I hope your bubba comes soon! smile

I had the exact same thing as you the first time around!! Had my MW appointment 2 days after my due date!! I was so upset, i know your due date is just a guide but its the only date you have to look forward to!! When i went 2 days after my due date the midwife was planning to do the same thing, when she checked i was already 3cm dilated! She said it was all happening on its own! She said she would be suprised if i lasted until the next day! She said i would either go into labour that night or the very next morning! Surely enough i woke up the next morning with contractions and had my baby at 10pm that night!!! Hang in there and make sure you get plenty of rest, just incase you go into labour at night!!!

Good luck honey. My two kids were very comfy as well. I ended up getting induced at 42 weeks with both of them. Hoping number 3 decides to come out on his own. Would be nice to experience it just once. smile
