Second pregnancy feels so different - I don't feel pregnant Rss

Hi all
I am sure other people have asked this question before, and I know the best solution is to go see a doc, but I am going round in circles while waiting for my appointment on Monday. Basically I am 5 weeks & 3 days preg according to 2 home pregnancy tests. I took the first at 4 weeks & 4 days and got a strong positive. I took a second yesterday and the positive was really weak - same test brand. Apart from very mild lower abd cramps, feeling totally wiped out and a bit faint, I have no symptoms!? With my son I was sick from the get go and completely felt pregnant. I had EVERY symptom under the sun. I am going to get a blood test on Monday but I am stressing a little as I am flying out to Hawaii in a weeks time and am really worried that this is not a healthy pregnancy. My sister and cousin both miscarried when they felt very few symptoms.
Anyone able to shed some light? I am not scared of the negative stories, so am happy to hear positive or negative opinions.
Thanks.
Hi! I will say a tentative congrats grin

With my first I was sick, so sick for half the pregnancy! I didn't even leave the bed sad second one, so different! A little bit of nausea but I felt 'not pregnant' alot of the time and was panicking but all was fine! So maybe you're just lucky this time! Try to enjoy the ride, let us know how you go Monday grin

Thanks TallulahBelle (Tallulah is on my list of girls names). smile
I was so sick with Hamish, for the first 18 weeks and then again from week 28!! My boobs were massive, I could barely drag myself out of bed, couldn't even brush my teeth and fainted at the hairdressers on one occasion!! Why would I be wishing for any of that back! Fingers crossed. Will let you know.
I haven't felt sick this entire pregnancy! I'm 28 weeks and I still don't actually feel pregnant most of the time smile And i'm not alone ~ there are so many women who suffer with their first pregnancy, then have a blissful second pregnancy (or the other way around) don't stress about not having any symptoms just yet!

It could just be that the test line was weaker because you used more diluted wee or something? Going to see your doctor and getting some HCG blood tests done is a good idea. That way you will be able to know if your levels are going up, and it will hopefully put your mind at ease smile

Fingers crossed it all works out well for you. How lucky to be going to Hawaii!

Both my pregnancies thus at have been very similar, fairly breezy. I had very mild nausea first time and some mild nausea again second time, mostly if I ate eggs, but nothing I would call morning sickness. I was very aware of twinges and muscle changes internally, but in general can't say I've ever had most of the strong pregnancy symptoms. Don't stress, see your doctor and go from there.
Hi, I'm 35 weeks with my first and have never had a single 'symptom' of pregnancy and all is well with me so I wouldn't worry. I'm actually worried that the second time around will be a nightmare to make up for the ease of this one!
I haven't read everyone else's comments, however thought I'd put in my bit, I'm pregnant with my 3rd & each time I reckon I've forgotten how I felt with the other pregnancies... strange I'm sure, however my 1st 2 were 8 yrs apart, the last two are 3 1/2 yrs apart, guess it gives me the excitedness back again each time which I love. Every pregnancy will be different, some people use these differences to determine whether it will be a boy or girl... so have fun guessing if you're not finding out, I did the ring thing & said I'm having another boy, however MIL reckons I'm having a girl just by looking at the profile on the ultrasound, so who knows... enjoy your pregnancy, & also, write yourself or your baby some little notes as you go, like a journal, it'll be a good little go-back-to later on, & something special for the child to read when they're older. I've done one for each of mine. xoox smile
I forgot to add, I wasn't sick through any of my pregnancies, however those 1st 3-8 wks felt a bit nauseus (sorry for spelling) & as if I'd eaten too much & had to take a few nanna naps on the couch. I'm feeling fine now (18 wks) but feeling like I can't do as much energetic work as I was doing before, so need to delegate those jobs at work & carry on with other things... so don't worry if you don't feel pregnant or feeling different to the last pregnancy, like I said, every pregnancy is different, it might be your best yet, have faith & enjoy that holiday.
Thanks everyone. I went to a doc yesterday and had a blood test. Waiting for results and having an early (maybe too early) scan tomorrow. I guess the reasons why I am concerned is that I have already been told by my obstetrician that I am at higher risk of ectopic due to having a dermoid cyst and part of my left ovary removed when my bubs was 4 months old. I'm 36 - so the risks increase with age too. Also my sister and cousin have both ended up having miscarriages when they felt little to no symptoms. Apparently really bad morning sickness runs in the family : ) I am still holding a little hope. But prepared either way.
Ok. So blood test results in. Positive with a dating between 5-8 weeks and hcg levels pretty good. : ) Scan tomorrow to check heart beat, location etc.

So I just had my scan. They saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac, which is promising but they have dated me at 5 weeks and too early to find a heartbeat. It looks like we'll be waiting til we get back from Hawaii to find out! Argh, the trip will be great but the wait will be excruciating!
