serious help needed with this rash Rss

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this rash on my DS it came about 2wks ago and I took him to the AH GP and he said it was viral it all but went away few specks here and there but for the last week it seems to be getting worse he hasn't got a temp no runny diarreah or anything that suggests he is unwell he is eating and drinking fine (more drinking but that doesn't worry me) I thought it maybe heat rash but it's getting worse not better and the heat is nowhere as bad today as it has been I am just worried about this rash and what can I do I am taking him back to Dr's tomorrow but want suggestions to ease his discomfort anything is greatly appreciated

these are things I have done

showered/bathed in coolish water a few times a day
changed bedding every few days nudie/jock runs
giving heaps of fluids
sponged him
creams the Dr has prescribed and moisturisers

ohh that looks a bit nasty. i have no suggestions for u buy to ring 13 Health and they might be able to give u some more ideas. Would definately be going back to the dr tomorrow. Hope its nothing serious

oh I have also rang health direct but they said to go to doctors which I have and going to again but he seems to be grumpy through the rash

Poor little thing. I would take him back to get checked too. Just wondering though, have you been using a sunscreen on him? I noticed it's on his arms, legs and mostly around the top of the neck above the t shirt line? I only ask as DD has a similar rash at the moment although not as bad and I suspect its the sunscreen. We are on our 4th brand this Summer!
Hope it's nothing serious and your DS is back to normal asap.
it's also on his bum, belly and back but they are the worst on the legs and that, he doesn't wear sunscreen lately as I haven't been taking him out in the sun he hasn't worn it for months

but thanks for the suggestion I am up for anything

oh poor baby! that looks very sore.

have you given him some panadol/nurofen? i cant suggest anything else besides what your doing, definately keep him cool, heat aggravates rashes.

id also definately be getting an allergy test done. have you changed shampoos, clothes powder, bug spray etc recently? maybe something like that is causeing it?

oh and id stop with the moisturisers, just keep up with the creams the Dr gave you. have you tried good old aloe vera? (like fresh off the plant)

yeah I have been giving panadol
I was trying to think if I have done something different but I honestly can't think of anything I have just changed the body wash stuff on the advice of Dr to QV sohoping that will help

Could check it's not folicitis - look it up but I'm not sure from your pics it looks like that. Would have gone away if it was hand foot and mouth I reckon. Best go to dr tomorrow.

---mum of two cuties---

I just looked that up and some of it looks what he has and some of it don't does it ahve to all look like that

what washing powder do you use?
Poor little thing!
Have your tried Zyrtec? Even if it doesnt help the rash it can be very useful to ease the discomfort! Hope it helps and let us know how you go.

what washing powder do you use?

OMO but I have used it for months can a reaction happen after awhile?

sad poor little man!

Could it be heat rash or eczema?

he has eczema in his ears like down them which I asked the Dr this and he said no as it's not dry like eczema is but I have asked if it is a heat rash but it's been coolish today and when he woke up this morn it wasn't as agry looking until this evening

hi - I dont really have nay other ideas - sorry.

Only one quick thought, has he eaten anything new/ different lately that he might be reacting too? Or in contact with, like plants etc?

It sure can. Try using a low allergenic washing powder and fabric softener for a while and see if that helps.

Ohh i didn't think of washing powder until someone else mentioned it but it definately could be that. My mum used the same washing powder all my life then when i moved out of home i just brought whatever was cheap so changed brands every few weeks. well about 12months later i got a full body rash and it would not go away as soon i put my clothes on i massively itchy. i went back to the powder mum had always used and it went away within a few days and i wasn't itchy anymore. i guess its worth a shot

It really looks like roseola - a viral infection for toddlers age 1-3 get. Could it be that??? Baby Love book or google has info on it. They would be a bit cranky etc before the rash began. My boys only wanted liquid not food for a day or two. All my boys have had this. Other than panadol etc and keeping them cool there is nothing more you can do. This rash is actually not mean to itch or bother them and will actually take a week to go. Hope that helps.
Unique that rash looks a lot like my dds rash a few months ago!!! I took her to the docs and I got its viral too it wouldn't budge i thought what am I doing differently!!!
It was the bloody washing powder!!!!
I used radiant in 2 washes and bang she broke out in a rash like that I think you can just develop a sensitivity to powders so maybe go get a sensitive one wash he stuff and see what happens maybe???
Is he itchy at all dd wasn't itchy at all it was a odd rash with no other symptoms
yeah he is very itchy to the point he pulls his hair out as that is where he is more itchy and it looks bruised at the back of his hair line I am even going to bath him pinetarsol today to see if that helps as I have heard it helps with itchiness I just feel so sorry for him at the moment

I am also going to the chemist to see about the sensative washing liquid

If you can take him to the chemist with you I sometimes get more sense out of the pharmisist then the doctors!!!
I hope you get some answers Hun have you tried calomine (sp) on him my mum covered me in it when I had chicken pox for the itch.

yeah I did worked for awhile but then it stopped working don't know why as it is good stuff I might try it again with pinetarsol bath

Ohh your poor little boy. I really hope when you see the doctor today they can help him. It certainly has been awhile for the poor little bub.
And another thought has been on lawn lately as lawns seem to bring rashes up on my kids.

I try not to put him on lawn for this reason as it gives me a rash so I thought it would him when he has been on lawn it's on a blanket

It has been awhile and it's making it difficult as I want to help him but don't know how sad

Oh big hugs to you too honey sometimes being a mum is hard when we can't fix our kids.

And there are quite a few washing powders and liquids that are for sensitive skins. There are also ones that are all natural ingredients too. I don't use fabric softeners as they tend to irratate my kids skin as well.
When i had Rubella and my rash was irritating, mum rung the pharmacist and they gave her alpha keri cream, she also tipped it in the bath with some baking soda to relieve it.

Also that rash looks like the one i use to get from spa pools, combination of chlorine and bacteria. Have you taken him swimming lately?
