DD fainted yesterday Rss

So DD1 had a big day yesterday. She went to the boat show with DP and his mate and his daughter in the morning and got home around 3pm, we then went out to DP's parents house and she played with the puppy and was running around like mad. At 6pm she came inside for dinner and said to me that she hurt her foot, she had a tiny little cut on her heal that was bleeding a bit. So I took her into the bathroom and washed her foot and put a band aid on it, she said it was stinging but was ok. We walked out to have dinner and came over to me white as a ghost, went all wobbly and fainted.

I lay her down and elevated her feet and she came too and was all sweaty. She didn't want anything to eat or drink so I got her to suck on a jelly bean for some sugar and she got some colour back in her face and was talking again. She said she was tired and then fell asleep on the couch. We went home and she stayed asleep until 7am this morning. She seems fine, eaten etc this morning.

Sorry for the ramble, but has anyone else had a child faint? I'm not sure if it was just a combination of being so tired and then the pain of her foot and possibly the blood. I'm not sure if kids this young would faint at the sight of blood but she has never really seen blood before like that ( a cut not a graze IYKWIM). Thanks smile

I've not our little man faint, but my sister used to a lot. And I mean a lot. With her is was heat related mostly. She'd get hot & then pass out. Happened in department stores, grocery shopping, school, people's houses, anywhere really. She had grown out of it by the time she was about 7.

How old is your little one? From the amount she has slept & with all that was going on, it sounds like the poor little one was possibly overheated & exhausted.

If the fainting becomes a regular occurrence, seek medical advice. Hope her heel is better very quickly & she is back to her self today. smile
I have fainted due to the heat up here and not drinking enough water. So i make sure my oldest drinks enough water because he always running around.

Hope your DD alright, it sounds like she had a big day and maybe not enough water. If it happens again i would take her to the doctor. Kids hate to stop when they having so much fun.

Oh you poor thing that must have been upsetting. Glad she's all ok now. Sorry I don't have any advice about the fainting all I know is I've fainted randomly a few times for no apparent reason and then been fine...not sure if you need to see a dr to have a check up.
Thanks guys. I do think it was just her being so exhusted and the foot just tipped her over the edge. She had eaten and drunk heaps yesterday in comparison to what she normally eats so don't think it was that but who knows. She is perfectly normal today but just having a quiet day watching TV and relaxing.

Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but if it does I'll get her a check up.

Was really strange as I was completely calm when it happened. We had heaps of family around and everyone couldn't believe how calm I was. Not sure why. smile

Hi
If I were you I would definately be taking my child to the doctor, it doesn't hurt to explain what happened and to see what they say.

Hi, When my son was younger he fainted on 3 occassions. The first time was a paper cut at school, his teacher sent him with a friend to the office to get a band aid and he fainted on the steps, splitting his head open and required stitches, the second time, he cut himself and came in to tell me and fainted as I was washing it (a small cut) the third, his tooth came out and he had blood on it, fainted! This is a boy who has major scrapes and stitches but fainted at small tiny cuts. He has outgrown it now and never fainted again thank goodness.
My 5 year old daughter fainted a couple of months ago, she fell off a chair and landed on another, it winded her, a couple of minutes later she fainted, I hadnt realised and thought she was playing around as she was face down on the ground, I was telling her to get up and then she started shaking and came too, I got such a fright! She was as white as a ghost for a few minutes then I gave her some water, she was fine after that. It does scare the heck out of you doesnt it.
