ENT specialists help Rss

Just wondering of those of you who have had your children/babies seen by an ENT, were they good and how long did you wait on the list to be seen. private or public?
I went private with DS to see an ENT about grommets. We saw the dr within 3 weeks of the referral being sent. Due to DS' weight we had to have the operation done as a private patient in the public hospital (private hospital wasn't equipped for operations on children under 1yr/10kg and DS was 1 but only weighed 8 kg) so there was only 1 day every 4 weeks that the dr could operate. We had to wait 5 weeks from seeing the ENT for the first available slot for the operation. DS was sick when it came time to do the op so we had to reschedule for the next month, then he was sick for that one so it was rescheduled again for the month after when we were finally able to actually have the operation. We've had a follow up appointment about a month after his operation and then another 6 months after that with another one booked for September to check to see the grommets are still in place/there's no problems. If necessary though I've been told I can make an appointment earlier if I have concerns in the meantime. I'm really happy with the ENT we saw, his manner with DS is fantastic. We're planing to move next year so I'm hoping to be able to find another excellent ENT when we move, assuming we'll still need to be having the checkups.

We do have private health cover so the expense wasn't too much, about $400 out of pocket for the actual operation and about $60 out of pocket each time I go back to visit the ENT.

Leisa.

thanks ladies. I gave up my private health when i gave up work unfortunately so will be going public. After 10, nearly 11months of dealing with post nasal drip and nasal blockages the Dr is sending DD for a nasal swab and pending the results will be going to an ENT specialist to see what on earth is going on. hopeing it wont take too long, only so much longer i can live on 4 or 5 hours of broken sleep a night
